Lost A Good Cat Today

-
If I was God, they'd outlive us, unconditional love is very common in our pets, not so common in people, so sorry RRR, I know it hurts, but ya done your best and gave all Your love, and I'm sure ol' Friendly knew it.

Sounds like he had a good life and went well. We had two cats that went to 17 and 18 and those last couple years were hard on them and us. I had to put them both down which was the hardest thing I've done in my life to date besides my Dad dying, and don't look forward to a bigger challenge. Batman just stepped on the keyboard on the way to his other spot in the office, glanced at the screen and paid his respects. Be well.

Sorry to hear about your little buddy. I know it's tuff, and that you will miss him, as we get so attached to them. Hope you have some great memories of him to think back on.

I'm a dog person but my sister has cats. I can appreciate the way these pets work their way into our hearts no matter what they are...Cats, Dogs, pot belly pigs, whatever.
We have always had to take our dogs into the vet for their final visit, we've never had one pass-on at home. I don't know which would be more heartbreaking. Taking them in brings sadness and guilt. I can only imagine that finding that one passes on at home is shock instead of guilt.

It sucks either way.

Well said K Dog.

It sucks either way.

By last count, we've had 29 cats and 1 dog in our family in my 52 years. Some of them lasted nearly two decades and some less than six months. Each one wrote its story in my memory. Some are recalled more often than the others. The stupid ones that played in traffic less so.... But they all brought joy. I look at how my kids and wife love our current cat Batman and it wrenches my soul to think of the day he is gone. I take solace in their innocence and dedication. Enjoy them all.

I'm sorry for your loss !
I miss my cats more then most people !
What a true gift animals are !
They show love like most humans only dream of !

K, it's obvious that this it really a covert four legged pet site disguised as an A body Mopar site, and that's just fine with Me. ! :)

Yeah nothing like grabbing a towel and getting a face full of hair. I wonder why?

You get attached to these little critters.
It’s sucks when you lose them.
Just when you tell yourself never again, another enters your life.

Sorry for your loss, our current cat found us.

He was just a little guy, wife and youngest son found him under our front porch one night, meowing like crazy, it was snowing and going to be one of the coldest nights of the year. He would have not made it until morning.

I named him ALF (annoying little fu*k), but he is the most playfully loving cat.

I'm sorry for your loss. I was never a "cat person" myself. But, when I bought my home 3 1/2 years ago, D.C. the barn cat conveyed. D.C. wasn't much of a mouser, but she was the sweetest most laid back cat I had ever met. She loved attention, and would always come when her name was called. I would often sit in front of the barn petting her. Before my new garage was built, my buddies and I used the barn for working on our Mopars, and D.C. would always supervise and occasionally step in to help. Now that the new garage is complete, she was just starting to get used to going in there with us with all the doors closed while we worked on cars. Sadly, she passed right before Christmas and right after I had gone away for the Christmas holiday. My buddy found her in extreme discomfort outside of the barn, and took her to the all night emergency vet. There was no telling what was wrong, but I was informed it would be well over $1000 for critical care and the initial tests to find out what was wrong. Meanwhile, she was in really bad shape, and there was no telling what the results of tests would be or if she would recover. After a few long phone conversations with the vet, I made the hard decision to have her put down. I hated that I couldn't be there myself. We know she was at least 10-12 years old, but she could have been older than that. D.C. (Darn Cat) will be missed.

DC was a beautiful cat! You should adopt a shelter cat.

Sorry Rusty that hurts.
I have no pets and not for a long time because it hurts to bad to loose them.
Like loosing part of my family.

Rusty, you are a good man with those cats. We built our home in 2001and our cat came with the house as a stray. House/ outdoor cat and great mouser. Lost my wife 2015 and that cat became my best friend. Had to put her down 2018 and that-was hard
