the truth/opinions about cams

I've seen reported elsewhere that fast lobes are actually less hard on the valve train, contrary to what some think.

The faster ramps actually help lighten spring load over the nose and improve the ability for the lobe to spin the lifter and prevent failure. Better accuracy in grinding with modern machines has also been a boon to modern hot rodder.

**** quality lifters are probably responsible for most noisy hydraulic setups, but good lifters seem to be a myth anymore.

What OP doesn't seem to understand is that any cam with the same @.050 and same lift is going to have similar seat to seat. Some may be shorter and make a few HP difference, but the thing is, you CAN'T get them close enough unless the rates are close. Unless it's a lift limiting lobe (duration style) then max lift is tied to the duration and the opening rate. In reality the old school grinds are going to not only be lazy, but also lack lift. It's not JUST about rate. Everything works together and are not separable. So if two cams are close, then they're close.. A modern cam with fast ramps and the same lift as an old school stick with have far more "under the curve" and has been alluded to by others, that's basically free power. 15-20hp is no joke. If a hot rodder is willing to leave 15 free hp on the table is a poser, not a hot rodder.

Modern lobes are better, all the way around, and in many cases don't cost extra. Why anyone would advocate for going with "good enough, but not good" is confusing.

So, to recap, a thread is started asking a question about cams but the op already has his mind made up as to what the answer is and doesn't want to learn anything,ok, on to the next thread.

So, to recap ,I already knew about the cams, my point was not that
I needed an answer ,but to show that like cams will produce about the same power. No one said anything about rocker ratios but everyones an expert on cams.So to the people led down the garden path by some posters, the point was crane, comp, lunati, racer brown, even thesacred mopar only grinds you are not gonna find that much difference no matter what anyone says. All the bs about brands is crap. You might find a couple here or there but not a ridiculous amount (thus the 50 hp)I thought I explained this but maybe not. So to recap again Lead 69 whats your point. You going to prove me wrong, beat your chest like yr, or try not to mislead other peoples questions. PS I didnt think I asked it so much as a question more like a statement.

Modern lobes are sometimes better sometimes not but the power difference aint no eye opener.I also said roughly same lift . Remember these lobes are rated at different opening points so sometimes smoke and mirrors. Remember racer browns lobes were
designed in the 60s and 70s

I see 4 different questions in your first 5 sentences. How are we supposed to take that? (yes, that was a question) I didn't catch your sarcasm the first 3 times I read your original post.

I guess I viewed it differently but rereading it - Your right! Sorry for the confusion.
I accept you're apology.

Seems theres always a cam question. The answer id like to find out is when a statement is made about newer grinds vs old......My guess is no ,but id like some opinions...
I think I missed your mentioning of supporting stats, links, actual comparisons you’ve done or know of etc in all your posts here, seems you haven’t posted anything to back up your guesses, thinking or opinion. I don’t believe you really showed anyone anything. Or again, I missed it.

Your right no stats no facts no comparisions .
