Soooooooo......
Are there two different throttle brackets, one for 318 and one for 340/60.... or am I missing something??

I have a 77 360, and it was put in place to replace a junk 318. I am using the 904 from the 318 as well all the linkage and brackets.

The TQ seems to be much wider than the two barrel making the geometry all wrong for the throttle cable and kickdown, so what am I missing.

The difference is between the two barrel and four barrel linkage.

Here is a pic of the four throttle valve linkage, for reference. The manifold mounting bracket is taller and farther over the valve cover, too.

There are also aftermarket brackets on ebay that are even taller than the factory four barrel bracket to clear tall intake manifolds. Those are nice.

Along with the 318 to 360 4bbl throttle and kick down brackets and linkage comes the question:

318s are internal balance 360 are external balance. So you either need a weighted torque converter or the custom BM Flex Plate with the half moon cut out in it to offset the weight you would have needed to make the 360 work with your old 318 non weight converter.

You need an A body 340 or HP 360 throttle bracket and kickdown linkage to go with it. There is also more throttle cable travel with a 4 barrel carb. The easiest is a cable style kickdown system.

I guess I never paid attention.

I should have both types ..... somewhere in the shed.

Somehow I was really under the impression it was all the same, I should know better

Here is the 4bbl small block linkage setup pic, and the 1481 mopar adapter to work with the Edelbrocks.

The geometry from the two barrel to a Edelbrock carburetor are different...
I'm not sure about going to a Factory 4 Barrel though..

your 2bbl linkage can and will work. Done it more times than I care to count

If I don't find one in the ol shed In reasonable time,...... it's good to see they are available re pop.

I am really hesitant to use anything aftermarket.
OE stuff is just too good looking

Here is a 2bbl throttle linkage modified to work with a 360 4bbl setup.

Bent it over towards the valve cover to line up, then added 1 inch height by adding the mopar cable clamp from another 2 bbl bracket and bending the end tab up, weld them together to make them one.

This one still needs the kickdown return spring added to the kickdown linkage rod yet.

Do you have a more close up picture of the bracket so we can replicate?

You are better off bending the cable clamp arm vertical on a 2 barrel bracket, but it still need to be farther forward and the carb kickdown rod needs modification. See post #15. But you are much better off starting with the 340 bracket to start with. See post #7.

Here, as noted if u bend the bracket over, u still need to move the clamp part up and ahead. These are 1974 360 auto and 4 gear factory brackets. Kim
