I’m not an expert. Mimic what I do at your own risk.

1970 Dart. 340, 999, 8.75. Has made 5 trips down the 1/8th mile with a best of 7.3 NA on fitech but turns out the trans was shot, so naturally I pulled it out and decided to go turbo so I could go deep into the 6’s. Bought a T6 Borgwarner S475

Things I’m still debating:
-93oct or e85 (would require me to get rid of Holley sniper and either do carb or some other efi) ??
-Meth alone or Meth with intercooler ??
-if intercooled, do I go water? Really would like to cut as little of the car up as possible!

Here is my progress so far.
Mini tub (homemade)
Spring relocate
Frame connectors (homemade)
Pass side turbo manifold (stainless such 10 pipe homemade)

Motor:
69 340 10:1
Icon forged pistons
Molnar forged internals
Eddy heads by Hensley Performance in Knoxville (only part I couldn’t do myself minus machine work)
ARP studs throughout
Going with Cometic MLS ***unless y’all suggest otherwise***(motor currently back apart for cam swap and bearing check)
Hughes custom turbo cam

Trans:
999
Transact valvebody with brake
6 discs in front clutch (blue plate special)
4 red altos in rear
Red racing 1.75” kickdown band (original re lined by Alabama bands)
Red racing double wrap reverse band
Sonnax servo
Hd band strut
5.0 lever

rearend:
8.75
Yukon 489 case.
4.11
35 spline spool and axles

3.5” chromoly driveshaft w/ 1350 yokes
28x10.5x15 MT pro bracket radials
Super stock springs

Going with dual in-tank Aeromotive 340lph pumps With -8 feed and -6 return

Also have a Holley Sniper 1250 to install (I hated fitech and got rid of it)

My updates will be slow, I work and go to school full time, so please be patient.

Still to do list:
Driver manifold, hot side, cold side, plumb, wire, fuel system, turbo cam swap.

so basically everything but the Trans and pass manifold haha

Love the fab work and your skills.Keep the work and pics coming.Very nice work on those wheel tubs.

Thanks! Everything I’ve done on this car was a first for me. Tubs, spreading filler, spraying paint, making a manifold, building a trans etc. I’ve just lurked in the forums and learned from there, I figure this build may give someone like me a few ideas. Or if it windows the block they will learn what not to do!

Very nice work! Wish my welds looked that nice. What did you make the frame rail connectors from? I’ve been thinking of making own also.

They are 2x3” .120wall mild steel tube. Looking back I would go with 16ga instead, they are quite heavy. I just notched the rear portion so I didn’t have to go through the floor.

Made the car handle waaaaay better.

For a first that's an awesome achievement. Those manifolds are little pieces of art! Subscribed.

Good job on the fab work, definitely nice when you dont have to pay someone else to do your welding.

Setup looks like it should make some good steam, one thing i would advise it to change the 4:11 gear to something around a 3:23, turbos like a numerically low gear. Helps put a load on the motor in order to build boost.

A lower gear is definitely in order. Being able to get it on the highway would be nice as well.
I have just been avoiding it since putting rear diff together without it making a least a little noise has never been my forte.

Nice work man!
I'll be copying portions of your manifolds.
Where did you source the bends and reducers?

I got most of it from a company called “silicone intake systems” online. Some other pieces came from eBay, just depended on the price.

Still working on the turbo kit, slowly but surely. Excited to be done cutting and fitting this sch10 stainless pipe and move to the way more manageable 16-18ga stuff. A few more welds and the manifolds are complete.

Finished the manifolds, starting on the hot side. Mocked the turbo in place, probably going to shift the radiator over about 1/2” for a little more room, the T6 body takes up a TON of room.

Think I’m going to ditch the Holley sniper and go e85 carb. I’m not a tuner so I feel the e85 will give me a little leeway with timing and boost levels. In that regard, does anyone have any experience with a Programable MSD 6box? Want to be able to control timing but not sure if I need a MSD7 (trying to save a few $$)

Great fab and an awesome build. How much boost do you plan to run?
I'm debating building my 340 as a NA high RPM motor, OR I have the same turbo as you on the shelf I could go boosted as well. Still not sure what to do yet. I have about 2 months before my engine goes to the builder so I have to figure it out by then.
I agree with Turboking15 on the gearing. 3.23 or higher would definitely suit the turbo much better.

The MSD 6530 is very capable, it should do everything you need. I've toyed with mine a bit NA and its pretty user friendly. I was hoping to hear how the Sniper would work out for you. I've got both a C&S blow through and a Super Sniper, I'll probably use the sniper(whenever I get off my *** and finish this thing).
That T6 does take up a ton of space!
We just don't have much room to play with in these things...lol. I'm gonna try to get 2 T4's in there....

Looking good! Which model Sniper do you have? From what I’ve read e85 is not supported by Holley but many folks are using it for Blowthru. I’m using the Fitech but am tempted to try the Holley Sniper w/ my e85 blow thru setup.

I really wanted to dable in the sniper as my buddies have terminator on their ls stuff and it’s awesome. However, upon reading the directions, not only can you not run e85, but you can not customize the inputs and outputs like you can even on terminator. I wanted to integrate things like a flex fuel sensor and bump box etc. after downloading the software I was super disappointed. Still a chance I’ll go Holley HP efi and put injectors in the runners.

I hated my fitech, could never get it to start right, it would randomly dump the tune, and would fail to log. BUT, the Holley isn’t going to work for me so I’m on the hunt again. I have the 1250cfm model in black.

Creeping up on this hot side. Need permanent turbo mounts, a few more inches of 2.5”, and put a few more bands in for easier dis/assembly.

Megasquirt can do all that, its a learning curve from what I hear but I'll be diving into tuning mine once I get the exhaust done.
