How Big can a 5.2 get?

Ironically, back in around 2002 I built a '68 Dart with a '94ish Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L, stock bore and factory heads. Using the .600" MP springs and a (then) custom Comp HE270HR hyd. roller cam (218/224@.050",.536" lift, 110LSA), with "Blue Racer" Ford pedestal roller rockers (adjusts over the pushrod), it would turn 6500rpm like nothing! M1 single plane intake and a 600VS Holley yielded 8.40 ETs in the 1/8 at 86mph, and a 750VS Holley ran 8.30s @88. It had 4.30 gears, but a lazy MP "175K" 11" converter and 727 trans. With an AirGap (not even available yet I think) and a 9.5" converter/904 trans, that thing would have run 7s in the 1/8 and 12s in the 1/4, in a regular weight Dart with no head porting or even an overbore. That sold me on Magnums for budget street duties.
