This is why I've always said you should videotape yourself opening used parts! :steering:

I will have to say that I do not always open parts before I sell them. And I have sold some parts as cores that some have complained that were not usable as shipped. Looks like the seller did not open it before he sold it an manufacturing problems surfaced. Makes no difference if he had one post or ten thousand this happens. But the inexcusable part is to dog pile a person when all the facts are not known. This is not the only site that has this problem but it seems to run in the family

To update everyone on how this turned out. The Seller contacted MSD and arranged for me to send the distributor back to them and that they would rebuild the distributor at no cost. I sent it off 6/9/16 and just got it back today. They replaced everything including the cap and rotor. The seller had paid the shipping for me to send it to MSD, but since I wound up with a better distributor than we agreed on, I'm going to refund the shipping he paid.
I know that this was resolved in a great part by you the members that posted here and pointed out to me and the seller that the rust issue is quite a common issue with these MSD distributors. For that I want to thank you all.
I also want to point out that these type of thread do have a place on FABO and that it's not always a "character assassination mission".
To say again, shatar4 is a honorable member that I would deal with again. Thanks for your hep in resolving this.

That's good Roy. I am glad it all worked out. Kudos to shartar4 for doing the right thing.

Good to see it worked out with both of you happy.
Excellent character shown from of both of you guys
for working it out together.
Also to the members who shared their experience with the same msd rust issue for all of us to be aware of.

Let this thread be a prime example of waiting on all the facts before we decide to persecute the hell out of someone. By the way I'm glad it worked out for you in the end:thumbsup:

That's great! This thread started to get rough but when we decide to look at every angle and both sides it becomes very clear. If you have a"disagreement"with someone it really isn't a problem to put it in print, let's just hold back on the"assumptions". Good luck to both members!!!!!

IMO neither buyer nor seller are at fault here your all pointing your fingers at the wrong person(s). MSD deleted the rust proofing process on their parts to presumably save a nickel per distributor.

Look here http://69camaro.nextmill.net/photos/distissue/dist3.jpg

Look inside your ProBillet distributor or your R2R they're all the same.

MSD spent major $$$ and years to burn their name into your brain, then they sold out to Holley, Holley found ways to make them profitable of course at your expense.

All made in China or Mexico now, sold the building in El Paso, dropped Tech Support and service.

This what a distributor should look like, not how all components are have the corrosion resistance coatings. Not shown but even the shafts are coated with a coating so slick we have to sand them a little so the distributor machine can get hold of the shaft to spin it. Our distributors carry a 5 YEAR warranty see if MSD will give you that?

MSD distibutors have a known issue with corrosion inside them. I have never driven my car in the rain, but the inside of my new billet distributor looked like it had been in the ocean a few times after a short time of use.

yup. Very common. Not fatal in any way.

This was resolved for me. see post 53.
I think most here noticed that.

Don swings through once or twice a year and skims or searches for threads where he can post something about his products being better than others.
Rob (Rumblefish) comment is his attempt to sweep up the broken glass from this fly by. Or is it more like a drive by?

I'm refering to the guy who revived this long dead thread. Don from FBO. If you look at the bottom post #59 you'll see he writes "our distributors".

I’m fairly new to fabo and I know this is an old thread but y’all are hard core lmao don’t be trying to get over on anyone in here . I unders stand it wasn’t the sellers fault but if it was look out
