If it was in overdrive and hooked up correctly the 4th and 3rd shifter would be upside down and facing downwards...
so as it is facing upwards if you were going to 3rd gear and it would go into overdrive from second and you would feel it tremendously then you pull back into fourth and it would drop down a gear seemingly...
