I bought a ‘74 /6 Duster about 10 years ago as a retirement project and a home for a 440/727 I had left over from another project. Also bought Schumacher mounts and headers. Have since decided to replace 727 with 4-speed. Bought conversion kit from Brewer. Have motor and tranny installed and learned that Schumacher headers won’t work on manual car due to interference with Z-bar. Has anyone found headers that work with this combo or am I looking converting to a hydraulic clutch?

Schumacher headers can be modified to work. Seen at least two examples posted here in the last year.
TTI also have an issue. They offer their Z bar for about 115.

More header info here.....

Thank you for the information. I’ll try to find those other threads when I’ve got a little more time to spend on the computer.

We're finally going hydraulic on my son's 440/4sp Dart this time around. We were given a pile of hydraulic clutch stuff including an 18-spline throwout bearing and the rest of the goodies. Just gotta get the engine finished and everything installed. We've fought Z-bar issues since I first built my old '67 hardtop with that drive train.

If you decide to change out the Schumacher headers ,I would be interested in them

I’ve decided to go with a hydraulic clutch to cure the header / z-bar interference. But I’ll keep you in mind if that doesn’t work out and I end up going with different headers.
