Paint Color Change

-
One thing you could do is paint it back to K5 (or similar) and if you ever wish you’d gone a different route, you could have it vinyl wrapped. Now, you wouldn’t wanna pop the hood or trunk at shows since those would still be K5 but it would be an option. Can always peel off the vinyl too to take it back to K5.

Last I checked there were no laws saying you couldn't paint your car whatever color you want.

What there is though, are a bunch of people that get their panties in a twist because they think everyone has to be on board with their opinion. Or they spout off their opinion whenever they hear about someone's color choice when they are painting their car.

The OP's original question was as to people's opinion as to the effect changing color has on value of his challenger.

He also said ...
‘I've always been the kind of guy that says it's your car do what makes you happy,’

It’s his car, if he wants to change the color to one he likes better that’s his decision.

A well done paint job doesn’t hurt the value as much as much as people think.

This will be my last project I hope lol.
I hope to never have to sell it.

Those were the important words.
Don't worry about the value, you're not planning on selling it. Why would you not want to be happy with your car.
Paint the car any color you want.

Its been over a week Larry.....What did you decide?? LOL
Ok, so I'll tell you all a little story. When I was in H.S. in '88 I bought a '70 Charger Burnt Orange Black top.
After having it about a year I decided to paint it Plum Crazy. All the old timers were trying to convince me the Burnt Orange was such a pretty color. But I had to have it. Later I realized I regretted doing it. Now I thought abought the Go Mango for this car. But, after thinking about it the Burnt Orange really is pretty and I don't want to re-live another mistake. So I told my Painter to do Burnt Orange. However, I'm deviating from the top. I'm going with White Top and White Stripe. I know I can do what I want, but I think It will look amazing. This has been a little hard. Because I haven't had a car with all Documentation like this in 20 years. But, when it's done she will still get driven. That's what they were meant for.:steering:

Either way black top or white top you cant go wrong Larry! It will look booty full.

Paint it whatever you want. Guy buying a numbers car would probably repaint the 50 year old paint job OEM anyway. Just don't paint it Rik Smits purple with deliberate heavy neon green paint spatter...everywhere!
