So I finally have some bucket seats, reinforcement plates, sliders and mounting hardware ordered up! Aside from drilling some holes in the floor, I always try to preserve the option to put the car back to factory stock. Keeping the factory bench (which is in pretty good shape) clean and dry will be important so I'm thinking about using it as a couch in my home "office."

Classy, I know! :D

So far, my wife thinks this is a joke but I actually want to do this.
In the office room, it won't get much use, it won't typically be seen by people who come to the house and most importantly, it will be away from the elements and rodents.

Has anyone done this? Did you bolt it to some boards or what? Pictures are welcome. :D

I've thought of converting buckets to stools.

Don't forget to scatter some petrified French fries under it.

I left my bench seat in my friend's garage for a couple months. It wasnt in too bad of shape. We used it often! Ended up giving it away locally.

I have done it with a bucket seat I bought from a Dakota for the seat track I needed, then just bolted it to a wooden platform, I did mine low cause the Kid was using it as a gaming chair, I would have been divorced if I had put it in the living room! lol same principle would apply to bench seat just build a small wooden platform and bolt her down!

My son has it in his apartment. Went straight up red neck and bolted them to 4x4’s for a little more night. It’s his gaming chair

What did you end up getting for buckets?

Hell yes that would be a swank upgrade from apple boxes, milk crates and flipped over 5 gal buckets! I'd me weld up a frame and make a porch swing with gauge and beer holders!

Have a couple Dodge truck bench seats bolted to 4x4’s in my garage. I call them “redneck loveseats”!!

The caravan rear seat is still kicking around, make an ok bench seat. Would have it in my shop, but no room.

I used the original black front bench w/armrest out of my 67 Barracuda as a couch in my apartment before I was married. I had to build a base for it to sit on, as it was too low to the floor, and also it was seriously overbalanced to the rear (since it wasn't bolted down). I used 2x4s as rails that extended about a foot behind the seat. It actually looked decent, and was comfortable as kind of a love seat. Later I stupidly gave it to a family friend who was going to put it in his car. I say "stupidly" because after the junkyard buckets wore out, it was 15 years before I found another bench seat, and I had to pay $900 for it as it was freshly restored.

There used to be a local junkyard and the guy lived in a mobile home in the yard. All his furniture were car seats. It was a real dump but the furniture was cool.
