Would like to hear what you would recommend for a set of snap ring pliers. I would like to find something not too expensive but not junk either. I will not be using them much....
FWIW the next project I plan, that will need a set of pliers, is removing the front bearing on a NV3500 transmission.
Thanks for suggestions.

Plenty of good quality sets on AMAZON or where ever.
I use the OTC sets I bought off Amazon for my business on the road repairs and like better than the Blue Point and Snap-on stuff i buy from the tool truck for my shop work.

Just my Professional opinion from a guy who makes money with my tools.

I use a Blue Point set of snap ring pliers, had them for over 30 years now, they convert from internal to external at the push of a couple of buttons - invaluable and one tool does all!

Need to size the pliers for the task. I bought snap-on set after trashing a few pairs of cheaper ones. One pair to do the job even of better quality is money well spent.

Really depends how many times you will use them. HF will get you bye, sears are good also. I have old Snap-On never failed me yet

Good ones are a blessing ... Cheap ones are a curse. Spend some money for a good set or you will be tearing your hair out in the middle of the build.

I just purchased a 4 piece set of Knipex snap ring pliers for $58.00. They are super high quality and made in Germany, I definitely recommend them.

I used cheaper ones for years and finally broke down and bought a used set of Snap On off e bay. There is a lot less frustration in my life now when working on something that requires snap ring pliers.

Good name in hand tools to say the least.

I'm not familiar with what you need but I am familiar with snap ring pliers. Is it a snap ring or a lock ring. Internal or external? If it's a external snap ring that takes a pin type plier, there are at least 7 sizes of pin holes in external and external design. Show us a sample and we can find you what you need.

I had a set of cheapies, and they were hard to use. I got a set of Craftsman (one internal, one external) and couldn't be happier. They are really nice, so much so I threw the junkers out.

I've used Snap On, HF, Craftsman, and some with no name. I think they all suck.

Not listening!

Snap ring tools do not work if pulling let’s say the tail housing. They may if you are determined!

The right tool for the right job depends. I am with Toolmanmike. Show us what you need. I have at least 4 different types, duck bill, pin type and such.

Sorry, im just getting back here. Had a long day of work yesterday and no way to post.... Till I get home.
First, want to say, thanks to everyone for helping!!
I have a set of k-d with the assortment of ends, etc. But they bend easy...
Also have a set of harbor freight, which are ok for small stuff.
The future project, the NV3500 transmission, I posted a picture from the service manual.
The other project I will have a need for every 2 years or so, is a dana 44 in a corvette.
The pictures are not great, but best I can do at the moment.

In the diagrams it looks like a lock ring (no pin holes) but I can't be for sure. You will need something like this:

The photograph of the differential looks possibly like a snap ring (with pin holes) You will need one like this: The fixed tip ones are stronger over the interchangeable tip kind. You may need a 45° pair for easier access. Also you will need the correct pin size.

That's one of those tools where you really need good quality. I have a Matco set thats not made anymore. There's a world of difference in using good ones and bad ones.

Wanted to thank everyone for their opinions and help. I ended up ordering a set of lang 3495 snap ring plier set. It comes with 12 pliers, size .038, .045, .070, and .090. in straight, 45, and 90 degree, fixed tips. Supposed to be american made, coming from amazon for $77.00.
I understand that snap on and others are superior, but for personal use, I cant justify $415.00 for snap on. .....
If I run into something that these will not remove, I have 2 friends who are professional mechanics... Will borrow from them.
Thanks again for your suggestions.
