i purchased this k-member some years ago thinking that it was for a big block 383/440 but a member here on FABO is pretty sure it is not. do any of you recognize this? i don't think it's for a 6 cylinder - i think it might be a small block k-member.

It looks identical to the 68'-72' A body small block K frame which I have 2 of on my barn floor right now. The right side mount for /6 is further to the right and a lot shorter.

mr. sinister... i'm guessing that the k-frame i have is not going to work to put in my 69 m-code to hold a 440. do you happen to know if you can put a 440 on this frame with special motor mounts? if i can't use this part, i'll probably sell it. do you have an idea of what a 340 k-frame is worth? thanks again for your help.

Back before someone told me they are different, I put big blocks in a couple different small block cars without an issue.:wtf:

Jim...Schumacher makes mounts that’ll mount your 440, but it won’t appear stock.

Definitely not BB. First look is there is not two slots on driver side mount. In yours there are 2 passenger side. Not sure about Schumacher, BB-K’s are still out there. Put out the wanted thread. And be carful for the undesirable 67 idler mount.

i've read here on FABO that schumacher is going out of business. have you bought anything from them lately?
I hadn't heard of them going out of business, but I did hear they're back ordered on some mounts.

EDIT: Just noticed Classic Industries has some...1967-1972 Dodge Dart Parts | MA4698 | 1967-72 Mopar A-Body Small Block V8 To Big Block B/Rb V8 Motor Mount Swap Set | Classic Industries

...or...4698 Transdapt Conversion Mounts Mopar Big Block into small block K member | eBay

How did you acheive this? I'm aware of the small block trick on /6 k frame ( my older brother did that once ) do you remember what mounts you used? I always wondered if you modified the 62'-65' B body big block mounts it might work.

Jim Harvard to answer your M code question I have to agree with 1969383S and 65Val if you want to be correct you are going to have to find an original M code piece. The 340 "washer" k frame is desireable but I wont put a price on it, I have only owned "common" 318 k frames.
There is also the possibility of creating a CLONE M code k frame as there are HEMI copies SS/A being produced.
Maybe you get in touch with HemiDenny through FABO. Good luck.

Nothing special for M-Code. It used the standard 68/69 BB K. They are out there.

Jim at last talk was not concerned with correctness.

Thanks for info and if he is not correct concerned he could buy a small block 73'-76' and move the mounts for a lot less money than finding a real BB K frame

Shame to, he has a real 69 M-Code and spent the right cash to have AMD here in Georgia fix the metal! The engine mounts are nowhere near the same but the K is.

hi mr. 383S...

yes, AMD did all the metal work on my car and they did an excellent job. i sent them a second 69 fastback donor car that came from arizona that was perfect. they cut the entire rear/trunk/back seat floor pan out and put it in my car. AMD did use their repo front driver/passenger floor pans and two or their full quarter panels. as such, the car is now absolutely back to stock and OEM specs with not a speck of rust anywhere. i did have AMD put a 4 speed hump in the car as i'm going to build it with a 4sp. it will be the only "real" m-code Cuda with a 4sp. as to the k-frame, i am currently talking with two guys that have original m k frames. i hope i will be able to work out a reasonable deal with one of them. i do want to keep this car as correct as possible. it is never going to be as perfect as the "museum pieces" you see at shows and because some crazy person cut the car up to make a drag car. i am still amazed at someone doing that given how many "regular" 69 fastback Barracuda's that are out there - but hey, there's probably someone out there that cut up an original Yenko Camaro to go drag racing.

Agree with you and it is your car! I am sure AMD did you good as that shop is top notch! The factory 440 cars use a standard 68/69 383 K with modified driver side engine bracket and exhaust manifold. The 67 K, while similar, has only one tab for the idler arm so be picky! Can only assume from our last talk you will have headers and not a stock exhaust.

And you can call me Gerald. BOL and look forward to seeing the end product!

If you are still on your plan you expressed in the past, why not the aftermarket K?

Anyone in the know will see a stick and say, nope. Does it matter anymore?

i know i could just buy the aftermarket k-members and use new disc breaks, etc. but that would seem to make the car further down the road to a "resto-mod" cuda than what i want. the 4 speed will look like a OEM stock 69 Cuda 4sp car except it will be a 440 m-code. the "smart" thing to do would be to put all new modern parts on the car because the resto-mod cars are bringing big money now. but being a mopar fan now for some 50 years, i am stuck with the OEM design and look.
