Scraping? Unlikely the bearings are making that noise. Bad rear axle bearings often make a buzzing or growling-like sound. Reminiscent of a small engine airplane. Axle bearings on an 8 3/4 are a bit involved, and require new outer seals that go between the retainer flange and the bearings. More likely a brake issue.
