Well he already has Speedmaster heads right? Back when we ran high 9’s we over cammed, over carb’d, over geared, lots of convertor, got it as lite as possible. TRW pistons with deepened valve reliefs and mushroom tappet cams made big power. J convertors made everything run better than it should. Super stock springs an track prep 40 years ago was our limiting factor. If Scat I beam rods are available that I would buy over wasted money on stock rods even though stock rods would work. I would beat on stock cranks three years racing 2-3 times a week before I threw them on the scrap pile because they would always show cracks when tested. I ran consistent 10.0’s with a 1050 dominator and ran the same on back to back testing with a Tunnelram. I finally found some ET with it. Two 750 Holley carbs 76 Jets in the summer 78 Jets in the early spring and Fall.
