Hey all, getting a whistling noise on my 67 dart vert at about 20 mph or faster. Thinking it’s coming from around the vent window. Any common causes or easy fixes, or good ways to diagnose it? Was thinking I could tape over 1 seam at a time and drive it until it vanishes, but seems a bit overkill

Have passenger?? Have him/ her probe the area with a length of hose, fuel hose, anything.

I already have your answers
1.A vert and you have the top up??? and your in Florida ??!!
2.need a better stereo
3. need a bigger engine !
:poke::rofl:

Yeah. Have a passenger light a cigarette and pass it around close to where you are hearing it. When it gets to the leak, it will pull the smoke out and you can see it. Works very well.

I didn't have issues until I removed and re installed my outer windshield trim. I now have the correct foam gasket to reseal it this spring.

Well there you go. The windshield frame upright post was reformed from standard to make it stronger. This creates a large void underneath that trim. Factory put a foam filler in the void.

I have the same problem as the OP. Doesn't sound like the typical wind noise these cars have. Sounds like a whistle you hear from a party whistle. The noise is coming from the drivers side vent window or the rear view mirror and I can only hear the noise when the drivers side window is down and driving from about 40 mph to 60 mph. Opening an closing the vent has no effect. Also removed rear view mirror and drove with no change in the noise. Have covered the molding areas with masking tape with no change in noise.

I believe the noise is coming from somewhere off the front of the car and is coming in through driver side window. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Roger

I can remember my Dad taking his new 1970 Dart back to the dealership 4 times before they got rid of that whistle!!!
