Are the 904 and 727 sheet metal cover/inspection plates inter changeable? Getting ready to post one for sale want to be sure what it fits. I think it's off s 904 but not sure. See picture. Thanks

Looks like a 904 only the inner edge has been radius-ed about an inch or so

But mine has the small inspection plates like the 727. Did any 904s have that? Thanks for taking time to help

Correct, this is my 904. cant really go by the structural ribs. To me the defining difference is the cover shape just below the starter mount point, the 727 juts up where the 904 is straighter.

You saw my note about what looks like a modification to the inner radius, correct? Can you look to see if it was cut? I dont know if that would affect the fit or not

Let's think about this a little, The transmissions are different, the pans are different, the converters are different. Why not the inspection covers?
 
The covers are different, and yes 904's had an inspection cover type plate also.
