AMD discontinues A Body panels and more

Facebook post: Are we doomed once again?

Some FYI, AMD has cancelled the 70-71 Duster/Demon full quarters, both sides. There is no current stock on hand. They have also cancelled the 72 Demon; 72-76 Duster; 73-76 Dart Sport full quarters, both sides as well and only have about 15 sets left in stock. I did not ask what else is being cancelled, as I only need a RH quarter for my 71 Demon project (bought one of the '72's). This is unfortunate. :(
 
They already have the dies to stamp them out. They don't need to make and stock thousands of each part number. They just discontinued less popular items. :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:
 
That's gonna put a dent in the price of the sellers who think their rusted and clapped out A-body's are worth a mint and just need a panel or 2..... This should get interesting. It's an indicator of the interest being lost in old iron.

I thought they said they are going to keep making the 72 to 76 Quarter
 
I guess the true hobbyists will just have to do it the old fashioned way...fabricate your own panels from scratch.

Just like many of us did back in the day loooong before replacement panels became available.

This should separate the experienced from the rest...
 
Some B body stuff is getting hard to get now also, a friend of mine tried to get one of the new repro 69 charger grilles and they are on backorder. I've got a bad feeling about all this, the future ain't looking good, the mopar performance stuff for our older cars is disappearing too. I guess it's a good thing I haven't bought the 72 demon project I was thinking about because it needs both full quarters.
 
I just ran into this with a dakota project.

I was told the bed panels are on backorder and waiting for a shipment from China. I have reason to believe AMD is the same.

Until tariffs are lifted and or fixed then more and more panels will be on backorder or dropped. Catch 22.

I highly doubt amd is stamping them in the USA
 
all 63 to 65 B body stuff is done I heard. But they still have stuff. I heard Kramer paid to have that stuff done so (just heard that don't know how true it is) I am sure he will stock pile it. When everyones out he will name his price.
 
I think what they are going to do is
Duster make one year only and you will have modify to fit.
same thing with 67 to 69 Dart
" 70 to 76 Dart
" 67 to 69 Barracuda
and so on......
All to keep cost down as sales slow up

From the way a LOT of aftermarket panels fit, the self fabbed panels will probably fit better.
 
If you thought that the market for this stuff was endless, you were a fool to begin with.
 
I wonder if the dumb asses realize that many of the 70 Challengers and 69 Roadrunners have already been built..Darts,Dusters, and Demons are the next ones to be built.
 
I get it. I made a few parts over the years. I have already stop making 3 of them and soon to stop another one. You make a run they sell out fast, then you do another run they sell fast but not as fast, you do another run now its taking a little bit to sell out, now you have do I do another. Do you want to end up parts (money sitting on the self) for ever or just move on?

They are still make new parts. They are coming out with 66 67 Belvedere full quarter, trunk extension and outer wheel houses that will be out in 4 to 6 mounts. Plus all the car and truck lines.
