I'm working on a customer's 68 Barracuda. I bought all new M&H harnesses for the vehicle. I don't have any wires that plug into the Bulkhead from the dash harness to go to the backup light switch to the transmission. I installed the harness with two purple wires into the bulkhead connector that goes to the transmission, but my bulkhead is empty in those two spots.
Also I bought the tach wiring from M&H, and I have two gray wires. 1 plugs into the firewall has a grommet and goes from the coil to tach. I'm curious where the power wire comes from going to the tach under thd dash. I was hoping that wire came with it too but it did not. Also where is the hole supposed to be drilled in the firewall for this tach wire grommet?

That grommet is much larger than the original, requiring a larger hole. You might want to re-think that one. Location- you found the three "dimples" and will use the lower one? Two purple wires from wiper motor connector goes down the belhousing (with a clip on upper bolt to retain) to 4sp (two more retaining clips). Inside the car they enter the main loom, I will have to investigate more. All wires to the rear are connected at left kick pad. Tach wiring- grey wire (two piece) goes from tach to the coil. For power, a blue wire goes from fuse block to tach. The fuse block- most A bodies have no accessories so there is a missing fuse, a blank space. A tach is an accessory, so you will need to add the proper clips to add another fuse and connect your blue wire to it. You caught me at a good time, I just got done with this. Good luck. Oops, I just saw that yours is an A/C car. You should have no missing fuses.

Have you checked the wiring diagrams in the service manual for those wires that you're missing???

Here's the link for a free download....

The a/c and transmission harnesses are sold separately, at least it was that way on my 69

That is one beautiful big block. I don't have that much room under my hood for my 340.

like said the reverse light harness is separate and should plug into to the wiper bulkhead if 4 speed at terms C@D. The tach is fed out a specific hole in the bulkhead.”gray”. The tach harness should be 1 gray out to the firewall and coil - With disconnect and one dark blue to + fuse block. If auto it seems the BU switch is mounted on the floor shifter and or column depending.

In 69 it went three prong on the trans and all was done in a separate harness to the same bulkhead as the wiper motor.

I think I figured out the 2 missing wires. There was a connector on them. I took that off and plugged into the bulkhead. I still need to put power to it to see if they are the ones. The wiring was a mess and the new harness may have been slightly wrong. Already drilled the grommet hole. Also, it does have a missing fuse. The old fuse box has it, I may look into that.

The reverse lamp switch for automatic trans builds moved from inside cabin to the trans in mid 1968 model run. The wires with a connector you found were probably near the bottom of the steering column where base model switch was. There was also a extension harness that plugged into that connector to reach the console mounted shifter that had the reverse lamp switch mounted on it.

That must have been it. There was an extention harness on it. I was wondering what that was for. The car was converted to 4 speed at some time. So it should work now! Thanks
