casting number on balancer 3614369 , is this for a 340 or 440 ? All I can find says small block , and the 440 engine that was with my duster , not in car and the balancer is not installed on engine but is the one that was sent with engine ,,also is there any way to determine if a 440 has a steel or forged crank by casting numbers somewhere on block ?

The balancer is 7 1/4" round by 7/8" thick , the pad reads 7T 440 E 1 2

Yeah that's what I thought on the E stamp , but the harmonic balancer appeared to be a for a 340 steel crank , the 440 that came with car is a 440 engine from a motor home and has standard size pistons with a new comp cam installed an I don't think the crank was replaced since it was a low miles engine ,,thanks for your help

Wouldn't the cast crank damper have a cast in offset weight? Unless we're looking at the back side.

Is the engine rebuilt? Was it balanced and does it have a cast or forged crank?

This thread says its for a Forged 1972 crank 340.

Harmonic Balancer questions

Casting pad on right front.
Measure the balancer and tell me if it has one hole offset from the others

E means cast crank
1977 cast crank 440.

Harmonic Balancer questions

Yes the harmonic balancer appears to be wrong for the engine that came with the duster I purchased , I am going to sell the 440 but was pretty sure it was a cast crank according to the E stamp on pad and that it was a motor home 440 and as far as rebuilt I only know the cam got replaced ,, I did not want to sell with wrong harmonic balancer and misinform any future buyer , its also not drilled for a pilot bearing ,,I have a 340 to go in the Duster from my challenger and going to drop another 440 that I have in the challenger as this 440 with cast crank wont fit the 4 speed set up in either car as I love the old school 4 speeds an convert my cars to that setup since there not numbers matching

And the cast crank should have an offset weight I would think , I wanted to confirm that since I was unsure
Sorry if I ask in the wrong forum was unsure
