picked up another toy the other day...

not a fan , those damn things are all over around here. they travel in groups , bouncing around and thumping so loud you can't breathe... but hey, at least yours hasn't been molested or exploited

Nice pick up. I’ve always been partial to that body style too. Especially the Grand Nationals.

Got any pics of the engine in there?
I bet that mopar big block made people mad
Maybe a 383 GM mill!!???? lol

I looked at those models for sale here in SE Tx, I saw NO bargains especially compared to the Mopar FMJ bodies but there was lots of the GM stuff!!!! I still think those cars have looks an style.
I always wonder how so many peps can get down on the post 71 cars of any brand. They an ALL be made to run!!!!

Joe, I like them. I almost bought a GN about 15 years ago when they were cheap. However, couldn't talk my wife into it. Guess I had already made her a Mopar gal. lol...Good Luck with it buddy.

I literally get carsick every time I ride in a GM. I hate the way the plastic smells and they ride like the shocks are blown.

Well I fell and hit my head recently to Joe.
Picked this little cream puff up for the Wife wink wink.
Had a brand new GT in 92, always missed that car.
Its been a lot of fun tinkering with this car, factory and aftermarket parts galore. Values are going up as well.

nice. i had an 87 a few years ago... they are great cars. like you said you can buy anything for them.. instead of the cutlass i almost bought a 89 5.0 LX hatchback. super original. needed a trans. he wanted too much for it and jamie said if we are buying another mustang its going to be a convertible..lol prices on nice unmolested ones are rising daily.. that one you have looks like a nice one.. enjoy the hell out of it.

Nice car! I have been strongly thinking of trying to trade my Dart project for a g-body. I really want a Monte SS but they are out of my price range right now. I would take an Monte LS or Cutlass or Grand Prix. I would even take a v6 car for now.

Nice find, my co-worker and his son are looking at a super clean monte ss today.
His son has a Dart 565 engine in old late 90's chevy truck, and he wants a G body to stick the 565 in.

His son also has an IROC Z with a 383 in.

His dad my co-worker put a 6.0 LS in a AMC spirit, now he is building a stoked 6.0 for it.
They are ate up with the chevy engines.

They also put a 460 ford engine in a newer mustang, I think the mustang is a 04.

Their installs are super clean.

my mom had a cutlass. when i was 7 or 8 she told me to stay in the car while she returned a movie at the video store. after probably two minutes because i was a kid i got out of the car and went inside to see what was taking her so long. well she had left the car running and the time it took me to go inside and for her to yell at me and run back outside the car was gone. they found it a week later dumped in some bushes. it got stolen 3 more times after that and needed to be started with a wood handled flat head screw driver (i buy them whenever i see them at swap meets now) until the fourth time it got stolen and never recovered.
G-bodies have a special place in my heart.

I daily drove an 83 el Camino, 383 700r4 and 3:73 combo. I loved how that car rode. And it ran good. Still have it wasting away in the back yard after I gave it to my brother to drive and he beat it up. One day I’ll get back to it.

not a mopar this time. needed a change up.. these G-body cars are getting hard to find in good shape and rising in price so i wanted to get one before they got out of reach. i've been casually looking for a grand prix or cutlass for a little bit and finally found a good one at a good price so i grabbed it... nothing special just a 86 cutlass supreme with a 307 V8 in it and 2.14 gears..lol

the car runs very well, is very clean. lower doors are rusty which is common on them but thats it for rust. i drove it an hour home and man is that bench seat comfortable and it cruises along so easily at 75-80mph....

immediate plans for it are to buff it out, clean the int up, put a set of rims and tires on it and buy a 442 style cat back exhaust on it and drive it hell out of it.. i won't feel bad cruising to the shore and leaving this in a parking lot. always worries me leaving the dart in a parking lot where cars are parked tight...

down the road plans... i'd like to put a UMI "power tour" suspension kit on it which will also lower it 2". would also like to put an OD trans init...

way down the road plans would be to put LS power in it.. :)

its amazing what you can buy for these damn cars. can build just about the entire thing from a catalog..

i can't spend too much time and money on this one yet. Lil Red is still priority. that has to be on the road this year....

Those cars were mega popular in their day. The good news is a 455 is a slam dunk bolt in swap.

Besides a Mopar I to have a G body. I had, had one as my first car and regretted selling it. So about 8 years ago I bought another Malibu. Like you had mention it can be tough finding one that was not a rust bucket. When I got mine it was a 62k cream puff with a 267 sbc. Since than the front and rear suspension has been upgrade with boxed trailing arms, tubular control arms, larger sway bars and Viking coil overs in the front and smooth body adjustables in the rear. Engine wise I lived with the 267 till 2017 when I swapped it out for a 383. Its a fun car and man does it handle.

Paint wise its the same except of the addition of the cowl hood that I blended in.

Nice. You guys have suspension stuff for them? I didn't really want to go cool overs.

Yes we have a full line of suspension upgrades available for the g bodies from control arms to sway bars to Vikings, bilsteins and brakes. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks
James
