A833 getting stuck in 3rd gear

Many many years ago, I bought a couple of pkgs of brass rings from the Mopar dealer. Found out when I installed them, your exact problem. It turns out that every single ring was cut too deep in the strut recess. My cure was finding, in my stash, 4 good used rings. And they are still in there today and only one of them is tired; Hyup second gear, lol. It's always second that goes first.
Also in that new package; IIRC, at least two of them were no longer round, and I had to make them so. No big deal but you gotta watch forchit like that. I haven't found a home for them yet.

Do you have the right side cover on it? The internal spring levers should lock in the right place for the slider and stop the travel
Take a good look at this; install your forks into the cover and check that the rooster-combs absolutely prevent over-travel. I've never seen that cover make trouble, but in your case, you gotta check everything.
