Im putting a four speed in my 64 valiant. I have the four speed hump so i was able to trace the out line of that onto the floor. My question is how much floor do i leave on the inside of the trace line to weld to? Thanks for the help

Generally, you position it where you want it & then reach through the shifter hole & trace the inside.

If the cross member is in that area, do NOT cut into it.

This 4 speed tunnel was cut out of an Early A body and recently sold, see thread with pictures below.
No measurements, but maybe you can get an idea from the pics, or contact the buyer, Moparlvr166, maybe he can tell you if he had to trim this or not.
Good luck https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threadsearly-a-body-4-speed-tunnel-cutout.451561/

holy crap guys thanks a lot.

Oh ok i have seen an automatic but not four speed console. Thanks. So if my valiant doesnt have a console, it should have that plate at the base of the shifter?

I imagine it would have the plate either way to hold the boot down. It'll have a boot regardless of console to seal the hole. Now, whether the boot is the same, I don't know. I would think "probably not". But it might be.

I was talking about the plate with the shift pattern on it. Sorry. I’m new to four speeds

No problem. No, with no console, no shift pattern plate. It was just a play pretty that went along with the console.

I never saw a 65 factory 4 speed A-Body that didn't have the "Shift Pattern" plate... however 64 cars with 4 speed did not have the Shift Pattern Plate... they had the Chromed Round Ring !!! So if the tunnel has a round hole for the shifter and has the Bracket (for the Shift Pattern Plate).. it's a 65 Tunnel !!! If it does not have the Bracket... it's a 64 tunnel !!! Note: 66 and later had the larger oval hole ...
And 64 / 65 used the Same Round Shifter Boot held to the tunnel with 6 sheet metal screws...
