Done lots of them as a unit by myself, but always used an engine crane. Sounds like you have a reasonably good plan, I would not have someone under the car while lowering the assembly in, be more useful up top guiding it into place, then head under to button things up. Remember your overall length is gonna be 5 feet give or take.
