I've seen ads on Ebay for Sanden 508's, and I've seen adds for Sanden LIKE compressors also, i guess these are knockoffs, anyone have any experience or either, or opinions?

Sanden is good stuff. They are the choice of both Vintage and Classic Air, plus do a huge part of the market for original equipment.

Check out what you are buying real well. Most of them say Sanden style compressors which are Chinese. You can get the Sanden but they will charge you more. There is a video on YouTube that some guy has used a lot of the Chinese knockoffs and says they are very good.

I checked out the vid on utube, some good info, but it seems ya still don't really know what your getting, I guess around 220 bucks with some sort of warranty would be good.

I had 2 Sandens I bought from a well known vendor to convert my A/C from the RV2 almost 20 years ago now. Always losing refrigerant. Couldn’t find leaks. Ended up getting one of the knockoff ones about 10 years ago. Never have to add refrigerant now so best I can determine the front seals were leaking. Needless to say the second one was replaced also and haven’t had any issues. I believe it’s the luck of the draw with parts.

I bought a Perfect Fit a/c system from Classic Auto Air about 5 years ago and was surprised that I didn't receive a Sanden compressor with the kit. Instead it was a Chinese knock off. Looked more closely at the Perfect Fit brochure and it stated "Sanden style" compressor.

I emailed Classic Auto Air and they used to supply the original Sanden Compressors and said the original Sanden compressors were 1 year warranty and the Chinese knock off compressor is warrantied for 5 years.
