340 intake/carburetor advice

Really, the only problem with using the TQ is the adapter spacer under the carb causes a hood clearance issue and to so degree, tuning rods and jets.

The rear end and gear is on down the line, but I'm definitely hearing, I should lean toward the air gap and function with what carb meets my purpase. Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated, because I've only got probably this one chance to get it done. Still love the TQ, though.

Agreed except the DP comment.
I’ll take that 800 AVS II up against the Holley 750 in the street. If we are racing or the money, ether would be my choice to use.

The carbs that do NOT say Holley on them like the QF Brawler are very easily tuned to out mileage any other carb. I'm doing a Brawler now and 2 Holley HP 740's for a tunnel ram. I don't know how long it will be before Holley screws the QF line up, but they have really nice stuff and simple things make them work very well.

The Holley HP carbs will take much more work to get in shape.

The plan is to run both the single 4 and the TR with 1:1 linkage.

I could be off my rocker...but time will tell.

Naaa, your NUTZ among other things.... it’s all good.

I still like a well tuned TQ. I’ve had one up top a LD-340 w/MP book mods that was a absolute blast to drive. Medium size cam and 4.10’s behind a 4 spd manual. Oh yea, good times there buddy!

Id like to try on up to a MP M1 single for Ha-ha’s.

LD-340 is on my list with the TQ, but those who have them in my neck of the woods, r, pretty pennies pressed, to come off with them.

I (did and) would do a RPM (AG or not, your call) with an appropriate sized carburetor & call it a day. My carb pick for the street is the new AVS II.

On my otherwise noted dead stock 5.9 is a AFB 600 & RPM. Other than a set of Hooker super comps @ 1-3/4 w/ 2-1/2 exhaust, it is just a JY distributor and Chrome box ignition.
A 727 w/2500 stall verter & 3.55’s round it out.
An excellent everywhere anytime driver.
Small cam next... spring time.

Well, if you've already got a ThermoQuad that's ready to run and aren't going for every last bit of performance available and want good hood clearance, find a used Edelbrock regular 318-360 performer and port match it from the 273/318 size ports at the flanges to your 340/360 size gaskets. This is the probably going to be quickest and simplest way to do it on the cheap and the performance will be closer to the factory iron intake than an action plus. If you decide you need more out of it, mill the center divider to 1/2 inch from the upper level floor and install a one inch spread bore spacer. Being it sounds like the emphasis is more on cruising and enjoying it in a timely manner this would be the route I would take for now.

TQ or AVS2
Did YR have rollers on his rocker so he could rock and roll
no reason to spend a lot of money on a manifold as the stock works well and no adapter is needed'I
I would use an insulator and the aluminum plate under the carb

Taking the stock 318 out of a 1975 Plymouth Scamp, replacing it with a 340 that has had a mild cam upgrade and ported heads. Basically going to be a street car, might occasionally drag race it, after changing to a 8- 3/4 rear end, upgrading brakes and suspension. Right now I'm leaning toward a Weiand Action + 8007WND/ Remanfactured Thermoquad 800 cfm combination or Edelbrock RPM Air Gap 7576/ Edelbrock Thunder E1826 650 cfm, but I would like to hear some other recombinations or advice, thanks.

I would go with the Performer RPM or the Air Gap. Automatically takes 10lbs plus, right off the nose.
Match it up with that Thunder 650 and your good to go.

Almost agreed since there is a ton of missing information. Oh! Also the aluminum heat plate, not needed. Though for certain, a thick OE style gasket!
Very important!
