5.7 non-MDS camshaft

Hey guys, I didn't think this fit on any other board but I'm looking for a new cam for a 5.7 that disabled MDS. I have an 06 charger with 145k that I beat on. It isn't showing signs of bad lifters yet but I wanted to replace it before I ever needed to.

I can't make sense of all the options out there. Has anyone swapped a cam into one of these boats and has experience to share?
 
Disabling mds does not require a cam swap.
It can be disabled via tune. Or if you are rebuilding, you can simply purchase non mds lifters and tune activation off. The mds equipment is just along for the ride at that point. You can remove the solenoids, etc, but it's not required

Johnny Mac,

What if you want to do a cam upgrade for a 5.7 with MDS and disable the MDS, do you still buy an MDS cam or are you able to buy non MDS cams?

There are only a few aftermarket cams even marketed for retaining MDS. If you are doing a cam swap anyways, buy whatever cam you want, buy new non mds lifters for the sake of longevity. Tune out MDS. Because you can't swap the cam without tuning anyways. And done
 
I have a stock truck cam that you can have, just pay shipping. The specs are the same according to my book for the early models. Trucks we’re non mds until 06.

Sweet, I might be in contact then, regardless itll have to wait until my taxes come in.
