10's on $5,000 ?

February is a short month (29 days this year) but I’m thinking you can hit 50 pages by the end of the month if you pick up the pace some. Lol.

I don't think anybody would complain if you backed up your goal to say 12s for 5K. That would still spell RESPECT in that truck.

^^^^ My lifelong Chevy friend I have known for 60 years says we are "anal retentive"!!!!! I told him we are "automotive retentive""!!!! How many Mopars can you put in a good size pasture???????????????????//// lol

for sure the truck body will put a strain on the 10.99. But, as before, we plan to go as fast as we can for the money. If it's 12.5, or 10.5, so be it. :) Today we talked of the order of events. Here they are:
  1. Get the truck road worthy
  2. weight loss
  3. Not as part of the budget or build, but we are going to make the 318 a little more fun with some parts I have laying around while we build the BB.
  4. Install perhaps a 8.75
  5. Install BB and go for broke!!!

still posting your nasal spray

Nope not mine, haven't used it.
But your going to have to slip something sneaky in there to do 10.99's:poke::D

^^^This right here^^^ I expect to see 318willrun to go missing for long periods of time here before returning with progress and status updates.

How much time are you planning on spending on this?
it will get it's slice of the pie in my hobby time, but I do have other projects as well. Were going to enjoy it with the 318 as well. It won't be part of the budget, but well throw a couple of pieces at the 318 I have laying around - just for funs while we are building the motor were going to run.

I have help this time. We'll post our updates with it as they happen. We'll do videos. My son really wants to measure it as we go, so we'll run it with the 318 2bbl in at it's current weight.

Speaking of all that, when's JPar going to unveil those new shiny carbs on that tunnel ram? I'm dying to get back after it on my junk, too.

Just for the say'n, I bought the truck only so far. The parts I've already had that I will most likely end up using, like the SM heads, aren't against the budget until I use them against the budget. I think the budget would allow for a small block stroker at this point. Just looking at every avenue within the budget - both small and big block.
  • 318 with 4" crank = 390 C.I., SM heads, etc :realcrazy:
  • 360 block with 4" crank?

I had a 1975 Fury wagon. Not a Grand Fury. The Fury wagon was a B body that year....... like a Coronet wagon.
318 2bbl, unknown gears...... 2.76’s or 2.94’s my guess.
All stock, but slightly de-smogged.
No egr, no Cat, recurved distributor, tweaked the carb, rebuilt the 904 and put a shift kit in it........ 150,000 miles on it.
17.8’s iirc.
That would have been around 1991.

With the smog stuff gone and the dist/carb tweaked...... it was actually pretty responsive to drive.
A friend of mine had a 79 Dodge Magnum, also a 318-2bbl...... but not de-smogged, and i think it had a lock-up converter maybe?
(I looked it up....... lock up converter and lean burn)

Man, that was an extremely dissatisfying driving experience.
The car was cool, but the way the factory had the drivetrain set up just sucked.

The 3.55’s in the truck should work pretty well.

That's cool!! I ran 15.9 with a stone-stock 318 2bbl dual exhaust in a B-body 4 door with 2.94's. Have no idea on the truck, but if it was "up to snuff", I'd say a high 17 second pass. We'll find out, because that is where they want to start. :)
