Hey I just had a quick question. In my demon I’m able to turn the ignition over and start the car without even inserting the key... I’m assuming it’s the ignition lock cylinder that needs replaced? Has anyone ever run into this before or know what the fix is? Thanks

Assuming you have not changed anything lately you could get some lock graphite and spray a bit in the lock cylinder ( graphite lock lube can be messy take precautions, think toner from a laser printer). My guess is that the pins are stuck in the unlocked position. The graphite might not fix the issue if grease or other types of spray lube was sprayed into the cylinder and has now gummed up causing the pins to stick.

I am not familiar with how that particular cylinder is removed but if it is relatively easy, remove it and clean the pins etc ( DO NOT DISASSEMBLE the cylinder itself or you will have small springs and pins all over the place) a good cleaning and a proper lube typically NOT a grease.

If you need a quick solution some WD40 or similar spray lube can be sprayed into the cyl but it will only be more of a problem down the road.

I once had a car that was having trouble with the tumblers in the switch making it hard to turn and start the car. So I removed all tumblers and their springs and reinstalled. Worked great! The downside was that now the car could be started with a screwdriver or a coin but only I knew the secret.

My first car, 72 dart the key broke off in the ignition flush. I kinda liked not having to use a key. Yours is likely stuck tumblers. Spray some silicone spray in there and work the key in and out. Silicone spray wont make a mess but keep it off paint, I have seen it lift paint.

Drive it like you stole it! Pins are probably gummed up. Maybe some non chlorinated brake cleaner to free the pins? Its light enough not to gum up the works, dries clean but kinda stinks.

Love the key fob but... get pulled over much!

Isn't that hard on paint? (ie overspray drippage in the column etc!)
