any help or insider knowledge is appreciated thanks :=)

Many "A" bodies had no accessories, so there was an unused/blank space in the fuse block. If you have a factory installed A/C or tach, then the factory added the accessory fuse and powered these here. You can do the same by robbing another fuse block, or you can get your power elsewhere.

well the cars does not have a radio so could i use the radio spot?
i havent done this before so :)

thanks

Pic shows you dont have a fuse clip at the radio fuse port either. If you're going to rob parts from a donor fuse box, may as well put the accessory/tach wire in the correct place.
If you dont want to aquire and install fuse clips from a donor box, there should be a unused spade terminal on your windshield wiper switch. That's a switched and fused power take off also.

where would be the best place to add the tach on my current fuse box?

Take your 12 volt test light, ground the clip to car (metal) turn your ignition switch on (run) now take the test light and touch each fuse to see which ones light up. And then again with the ignition switch off and watch which one does not glow the test lamp. That is the one you should use for your power for your tach. (switched power). Looking at your fuse box I would tap into the radio, you can take your tach wire and solder it to a fuse (2 amp) and just push into the fuse box and it will work well enough for you.....

If I was going to put another fuse at the fuse box for the tach... inline fuse holder, maybe one of those little rubber fuse holders for a blade type fuse. Solder one of it leads to the switched hot fuse clip you do have at radio port. Route other lead inside or outside fuse box. Whatever suits you.
