I needed gauges and took too many shortcuts, time to fix it.

The wide band controller is behind the top row limiting space.

This Is my vision of what it will look like when I finish it.

Cad computer generated template accurate to .010"

Template used to cut out the design. In my mind the computer advantage is the fact that it put center punch marks in the center of every gauge opening.

Mask both sides, score both sides with the holesaw, then clamp & drill them out.

My plan is to give the thing some 3D anatomy so we will build the front and back out and sand to shape.

Time to fasten the unit to the mount, I will use marine grade epoxy adhesive.

Unit is fastened and epoxied to the fabricated mount.

Mounted in position for epoxy curing. I will use the correct size PVC coupler autopsied to fit the radius on top both front and rear. Then it's off to the upholstery shop for covering. Shout-out to D-Daddy for helping me with vinyl color selection.

The first photo is the back side of the unit under construction. After a consult with my upholstery guy I decided to build the back side out more to give it a better finished look. Glad I got the consult with him!

This is the front side, I kept it at about 1/4" depth. The corners are a 2 1/2" PVC coupler I cut into sections and attached it with marine grade 2 part epoxy. This is the last build-up, when ready I will shape and finish it to my liking and it will go to my upholstery guy for finishing before I put the gauges in it. And regarding consults, many thanks to D-Daddy for helping me refine my vision of the finished gauge cluster.

The cluster is finished and ready to go to the upholstery shop. I added depth and continuity to the back so the vinyl wrap will add visual continuity from the side.

View from the back side showing the returns added top and sides. Hope to have it back by the weekend.

I got my gauge cluster back from my upholstery guy. We went with a silver carbon fiber pattern vinyl.

I have the gauges mounted in the unit and ready to install. Not looking forward to connecting everything under the dash-just not flexible anymore.

This is what the face will look like. Tomorrow I will install it and connect everything up. It does look good in the car!

This is the completed gauge cluster with the engine running and everything working. Car has been parked for work most of the winter so it is not completely warmed up.
