Who has updated their dash lights to LED and what bulbs did you go with and where did you get them? I'm about to start putting my dash together and I'm finding all kinds of different LED 194 style bulbs. Not sure which ones would be best to go with.

I did mine with led bulbs that were three sided. LED on the top and two sides. Worked great. If you want your dimmer to work, you need a regular bulb in the circuit, like the radio lamp. I left 194 bulbs in my aftermarket gauges.

after I did mine I saw one where a guy put led light strips inside the dash. Pretty cool and you could change colors.

Thanks Dan and everyone else. My car is a 71 with rally gauges and tach.
That linked thread mentioned the lack of illumination bulbs. As large as the rally panel is it only has 4. They are behind blue tint diffussers and 2 of of them are hugged up close to the center pod. The interior of the housing and back of bezel is all white to throw the light about. The plastic blank for the center pod is also white. A performance indicator is pretty much a skeleton in form so light passes right through it resulting in the brightest of OEM rally panels. Why in the heck they didn't paint the exterior of the clock and/or tach white is beyond me. Easy enough to do.

I just put yellow ones in mine today. The color is not what I am looking for but they are really bright. I think I am going to go with either the white or the green.

I used sunlight white and love them with the white gauges and orange needles.
Also used strip LED for the panel backlighting.
Next time I have the cluster out I’m going to add a strip of red for the backlighting and connect that to an idiot light sender along with my mechanical gauge connection.
(No oil pressure, entire cluster turns red)

Well that would be different. That would really get your attention.

I went today and got some ZEVO super bright white LEDs. 6000K color temp. I have to admit, I really am liking this. I don't understand why the camera picked up glare because there is none. I think it looks awesome. Thanks for telling us about this mod @slantsixdan.
