Secret Compartment '72 Demon

-
Got pulled over one night back in the day - 80’s. Dart Sport w/ console. We had beer, open. I stuffed six in there - two open, two sideways on top. Officer asked to search car & buddy said ok. Trunk, console, - never found our beer.

Leaving the bar one night, buddy and I took a couple beers with us, I was driving a 76 Cutlass at the time, got pulled over, buddy hid the beers in his socks, he just had to be careful not to bang them together. LOL

The first day I had my Demon on the road I had my dad with me at 78 yrs old. Told him he could open the vent. He did at 60 mph. All the crud blew out. He looked at me and said that he’d forgotten about that!! Had to chuckle.

Figured this is there place to ask.... What was this compartment used for? It's located under the glove box. What years have this feature?

This question is making us old farts laugh! Thanks for this! Best post EVER!

No lie. Fist time my (then)16 yo son flipped his ashtray down in his Scamp, he said "oh cool, a little storage compartment and a phone power plug."

He didn't know what the vent door was either. His car didn't have them, mine does. I had fun telling him about the leaf storms. Good times..........

My first '71 was known to sometimes to have a "roach" problem in those compartments...

In the old days in my '71 Demon, we kept our "Electric Lettuce" in there (good for booze storage too).....being the bad *** in a mopar, I was back then, pulled over 100 times, the cops never found it :icon_fU:

Can you please send my weed back???? I forgot that I left it in there... :( :BangHead:

Thanks everyone! Chuckled that my ignorance made some of you laugh..... But at the same time you remembered some funny memories. Reading the stories made me laugh.

I'll remember they are there in case need to hide stuff. Someone asked my age range 40-50 so I had the chance of riding in some early 70's era cars between my grandfather and parents for a short time but was too young to appreciate some finer points of them.

For those that laughed.... Don't worry I got some more questions coming for yea entertainment

Had a motorcycle once that I could pack around 16 cans into the fairing, made the steering a bit heavy though!
I couldda used that trick, cuz at 240 kph, with a WindJammer, my steering got a lil light. I had to slide forward and lean way over the tank. Oh, and if I ever wouldda mentioned that to my young wife, I'm pretty sure I wouldda never got to be a Daddy, lol.

Not poking fun at you. Brings back some very good memories for me. I’m here to learn and try to help out the next person in line. It’s part of the fun for me. Bring on the questions and let’s work thru them. This is actually one of the funner threads I’ve seen for a while. Thank you

I wanted to buy a sweet 63 Valiant years ago. The lady who had it gave it to her son, an MP at the local army base. We were friends and rode a few places together. I opened the passenger vent box and his bag of weed blew out! I just looked at him and he laughed.

Gotta remember to drink the last one as you walk into the house!

No, you gotta remember to drink the last one as soon as you get pulled over for a probable DUI! Turn the car off and toss the keys out the window....Pop the top and slam it in front of the cop. Punk move but it will play hell on breathalizer in court. Of course if your that far into a DUI, you most likely deserve a night in jail.

This really brought me back , I remember discovering that door in my first a-body and thinking it was a gun safe or something. Under the right conditions with the back windows open it really does cool the cars interior nicely. I seem to remember finding a beer bottle in the passenger side of one of my cars. Good times.

Yep, the 'crotch box'...

Wear some loose shorts and open the vent and the breeze keeps your nuts nice and cool.... :D

Close your eyes as you open it or you'll be trying to get all the dust out of them. :BangHead:

I agree, this is a fun thread. Brings back memories!!

Definitely brings back old memories.......I am in that 50 Yr age range too. Brings back the carefree, wild, fun and hell raising days of youth, that are now long gone.........still can be wild and fun when older, but it takes longer recovery time...lol.

Best times of your life are the younger carefree days.......21 and bulletproof!!!!
