so yesterday me and the girl had to go shopping
we stopped by family fare, and they had a starbucks in there
so my girls mentions something about how weird their logo is, and i explain to her that the store is named after a Mr. Starbuck, first mate on the peqoud and that that weird two tailed mermaid on the logo is a depiction of the figurehead on the pequod

thats one

the next morning, there is a new teen in Church, and one of the guys asked introduced himself to him, and he literally said 'my name is Ishmael'

thats two

then the conversation turned to spiritual maturity and the Pastor posed the question "how long does God give us to mature" and this kid, Ismael says, long
so Pastor says, explain
he says, OK, God gave Jonah several chances, even after he spend three days in the whale

thats three

so clearly the world is telling me something about Melville's classic "Moby Dick"
but what?

WHAT?

WHAT?

then i finally realized it...it is not about the book, it is about the whale
moby dick himself
the white whale

so i got to ask Del...what did you buy today?

@67Dart273

Well that's some connect-the-dot convolutions going on there!
i know right, im like the guy from a beauty full mind

(but i thought it was odd, that three different things come up in such a short time that all reminded me of moby dick, seemed like to much of a coincidence to be a coincidence)

Sermon today was about "blessed with a burden" as in God gives you these challenges to allow you to solve them in a Christian way. Im dealing with a douche supervisor that snubbed me on an operations meeting last Wednesday, didn't even invite me even though I'm one of 2 leads directly under him for the 2 platforms we deploy. so I'm wondering the whole night if Im still even on the team. I calmly explain to my boss the email I wrote to douche (that he totally took out of context, said please twice..hard to determine the tone of a conversation in an email) and my boss exonerates me of any wrong doing and explains to douche and his boss my email. He tells my boss he will call me and apologize and brief me on the meeting, I still have not got that call. That is my burden.

i'd tell you the Lord works in mysterious ways, but that would just throw everything sideways
lets see, i missed the sunday morning sermon, since i was teaching a sundayschool class (we are slowly working our way through the Gospel of John)
we were in John 5:27-29 and how Jesus tried to use the pharisees knowledge of the scriptures to get them to understand He is the Messiah, by claiming for himself titles that Daniel used for Him. (speaking of Daniel, you're story reminds me of the Baker and the Cupbearer, and nevermind, that was Joseph)
adult sundayschool was on being a mature Christian (that is where we met Ismael)

the I got to lead a short service at the nursing home, and i preached on the woman at the well, and how her perception of Jesus changes as she spends time with Him (a Jew, sir, greater then our father Abraham, prophet, Christ)
and because of the location of that meeting (in the Bible) i spend a little bit of time explaining how there are no races in the eyes of God and how Jesus displayed that by his conversation with this woman

then evening service was on the two different fillings of the Spirit (the one that is mentioned which is given by God for a specific task, and the other which is the result of having your mind renewed by the scriptures

oh, and then for good measure i decided to head back to Church after the kids went to sleep to plow the snow that had fallen while i was at the nursing home

@harrisonm if it wasnt for the snow, i'd take you up on that offer, but i was never one for wintersports

Oops, @diymirage, I forgot you were in Michigan. Interestingly, I am in a small group at our church and we are slowly working our way through John. So far, it has been one of the best studies we have done yet

awesome man

i love the book of John
when i got this sundayschool class i started in John 1:1
just that one verse, you could expound on for a few days

been about 3 years now, and we're in chapter 5 :)

one of the things i have noticed is that Jesus always meets people where they are at
with Nicodemus, He used Nehustan to try and get through to him
with the woman at the well, He referred to himself as the Living water
and when talking to the Pharisees here in chapter 5, He is using all sorts of old testament references to get it through their skull He is the one they were supposed to be looking for

the white whale

Well ya caught me off guard with THAT one!!!! Actually I was gonna buy an Evinrude for 25 bucks but it got sold to somebody else!!!!

Sorry, I no longer have ANY of the "white whales." I do have a white "mini" whale (Dakota) and a "grey" whale (the 01 Cummins) and then I had jumped ship and bought a stupid GMC Sierra. It's black. I don't know where that leaves us. I hate to think it's a "killer" whale.......................

Pro'lly the coolest thing I bought lately was this Fluke........

Rusty, I BOUGHT ANOTHER FLUKE!!!!

And today, rummig'n 'round in my junk, I found a junk inductive timing light........AND I NEED THAT INDUCTIVE PICKUP to drive the tach function on the new Fluke!!
