Is this photo correct showing the center of the lens in black with a chrome ring around the perimeter. If so, anyone know if GCAR can restore lens to this configuration?

yep, Smaller lens center caps were once all chrome on top. For this panel design the center caps got large enough to reflect, with a fun house mirror effect too. Soooo they cut a texture/ring pattern in the top to kill the reflection. I forget what year they changed to black paint tops, 69 or 70. I dont know for sure if the little detail ring stayed chrome or was just white like the one beneath on the gauge screen. If the change was all about saving money there wouldn't be any chrome on the center cap.
