I picked up this model a while back and it has been a very welcome addition to the "nicer" car memorabilia that my wife tolerates around the house. It's sitting on the shelf next to 1/18 Ertl(?) Six Pack Super Bee and a 1969 Hemi Charger (that I got back in the late 90s/early 00s)...and it certainly has more detail than either of these.

This model seems to vary a lot in price. Some retailers want $100+...others, significantly less. I found mine on Ebay for $60 shipped. It feels like a nice value for that price.

Not being a diehard collector of this scale, I don't really know what to expect but in addition to the working steering (which they all generally seem to have...), this car has some really nice interior details including seat belts, trunk detail including the spare tire and jack. Nice little touches all over the place. Cool stuff.

From almost every single angle, this car just nails the looks and proportions of the 70 Challenger...except one. The grille seems to come to a point in the middle in the way that the original car does not...or if it does come to a slight point on the real car, I guess I've never noticed...so at the least, it's vastly less noticeable in 1:1.

It's honestly the only thing that bugs me and it took a while before it struck me as not being right on.

Does anyone else have one? What do you think? If the grille needs to be modded, has anyone attempted to fix something like this?

The pics (found on line) don’t quite do the car justice. It looks significantly better in real life. I tried to find examples that accentuate that grille issue...

Cool! But I think you need to display your 'Vanishing Point' Challenger separately from the Super Bee and Charger.
Display it separately but with two 1/18 scale bulldozers (if you can find some) and a crushed and burnt '67 Camaro. LOL

Does the glove box open?

I sold a 71 Charger R/T because of the same kind of issue.

IDK why they can't go look at an actual car before they tool up for these.

That Charger looked like they had taken a non bulge hood and grafted the bulge onto it.
The bulge protruded to almost the front line of the hood (as if it were in a slightly larger scale), and there was a raised center line at the front, which is not present on bulge hoods.

I just couldn't look at it without getting upset.

Then there's the whole "fast and furious" too flat and too thick bumper on the 70 Charger that seems to have permeated into non f&f models.

Grrrrrrr.

OTOH, I have a 67 Coronet R/T that is SUPERB in every aspect

I also have that same diecast and I also have the dirty version. Both have never been out of the box. I think I paid 150 for both from another collector.

Wow,
Didn't realize it had that many moving parts, I've got one still in the box I've never taken out that I picked up at a yard sale years ago..Brand I don't recall but I'll look at it when I get home tomorrow.

ya , that would be annoying to look at. it's definitely wrong. the 1/25 scale 70 charger has a really jacked up front bumper that I couldn't get over so I don't buy them. i never could understand how companies could get that much detail and totally blow it on something as simple as a grill or bumper. there are plenty more examples out there.
