heater box questions

An aftermarket A/C/ Heater box might, but I don't think your going to make it work too well on the factory box.

I take it you don’t want ac in the car? since the ac box is vacuum controlled it would take some figuring out. If you had a non ac box to steal parts from you might make it work. Would probably be a lot easier to just use the ac controls.

How/where the vacuum servos mount on box and attach to blend doors will be a lot different from the clips on a box that manual cables attach to. I don't know if robbing parts from a heater only box to build a hybrid would work or not.

I am not sure, but I thought the heater box part was the same and the ac part was added. It has been awhile since I converted mine from heat only to factory ac.

The firewall is a lot different. That was my biggest issue converting a non ac car to factory ac. Swapping box types is a lot of work.

Heat only to a/c box is not so difficult. Some firewall metal to remove. A/c to heat only requires putting metal back again.

I was thinking if the doors worked with diaphragms to open/close I may be abl

Kinda the info I'm fishin for.

All I would ever much care about would be to have defrost on push button side & cold to hot on temp slide. Guess while redoing dash maybe I could just open defrost permanent & keep p/b controls -they will just be there for looks instead of trying to change too much.

One advantage of the a/c setup is the water control valve. Heat only setup doesn't have one. Hot water circulates in the cabin at all times. You would need to keep the vacuum system, including that water valve, intact and functioning.
