Dont have a RH dual exhaust bracket and nobody made a repop one at that time, then template off the rusty assed old one, and make one from sheet stock

Wait.

We're talking about the difference between.....drilling some holes.......and drilling a few more holes.

That's what this is about? Sounds hard. I better destroy a whole car for a one-year only hood that....Imma drill holes in, cuz it already has extra holes in it. :realcrazy:
This is exactly what we are talking about. Measure, and drill some additional holes. Could prob template off existing to figure out where the additional ones need to go. Probably 1" or 1&1/4" holes too. Real easy to find a holesaw that size. It's not like you have to fab up a RH exhaust hangar bracket from scratch or something like that, because nobody at the time made a repop you could actually buy. LoL

I had a 68 dodge Monaco, I loved that car, then the drunk driver wiped out the drivers side, it got totaled out by his insurance but I kept the car in hopes of fixing it someday, but in my city you can't even have ONE car sitting outside that isn't driveable, and it wouldn't fit in my garage, so off to the youstore yard where I
paid $35 a month to store it....... For 3 years
You can't work on them there, so there it sat,
Went out to get the police rallys off it to put on my duster, it had literally sunk into the blacktop about 1/2 an inch, and was slowly patina ing away to nothing
I briefly considered entering it in the demo derby at the local fair, but couldn't do that to her and found a guy that had a yard and only dealt with C bodies, Desotos, imperials, all that good stuff
He lived over 100 miles away, so I told him $200 come and get it, could have got more than that scrap price
Minute he saw it he said "that tilt telescopic column is going in my 68 Polara convertible the minute I get home, its even the right color"
Made me feel a little better
My story has nothing to do with the OP,but not a day goes by I don't remember her fondly, but some day ill find that 67 imperial or 59 Desoto and ill know right where to go to get the parts, and hopefully he'll give me as good a deal as I gave him

I love seeing all these pictures from Oldmanmopar. In the first post he said "Here is a bunch of pics to use on the site for future reference". What's wrong with posting pictures? Doesn't everybody say it ain't real without pictures? Why didn't someone else buy this car and save it? Why shouldn't somebody be able to do what they want with their own cars? Why should you have to justify what you do with your own cars to others? Oldmanmopar keep sending pics I've learned a lot from them. All of you keep sending pics, that's one of the many great things about this site! Thanks

I agree

.......................................
That's pretty drastic.
Maybe I have to add some more of you to the ignore list.
Still working on the whole reading-comprehension thing, eh?

Steve, it's your car. Do with it as you want to and don't worry about it.

I find it extremely hard to believe that car was for sale for anywhere near 2-3k. Got a copy of the add? I'd say the seller was a FOOL, if story is true

Absolutely no reason to do that to that car.
Total Asshat, selfish move. Another one bites the dust.

The dark green hood is a 70 and the Sassy one is the original on my 72 which I installed the scoop. The 70 doesn't have all the access holes.

It appears like you only have to template and punch five, possibly six 1&1/4" holes in that 1970 hood inner structure to make it into a 72 hood. With a cardstock or autobody masking paper as a template, and a good machinests ruler that can all be punched out of that structure in under an hour.

It’s a 4 door good parts car think how many parts can keep a 2 door going good find. KB9GIB

Moparland is unlike any other place in this world! There's two sides to a coin and boy oh boy I'm seeing the thin edge now! Kudos for him giving that much for that car, I wouldn't have have half, but I don't Love mopars like most here. I was more about preserving a piece of history regardless of brand. I just couldn't afford a chevy. It wasn't till I got it home that I realized the steering linkage is on the wrong side of the car,and goes through the headers,WTF,and everything costs double but I'm still glad to have it. I've had people say why did you get a duster? When I asked them when was the last time you saw one, he couldn't remember. But as far as people storing 3 garages full of parts just to beat on their chest and maybe if your lucky let you peak at their stuff is another deal. Yep know 3 or 4 of them. One old guy did sell me a couple things because his kids 1 don't know what they are worth 2 don't care 3 will prolly give it away when he kicks it. I'll have to say once it's gone,it's GONE

I think a better way to act would have been to just NOT mention the purchase of the car at all if you plan to scrap it. You just piss people off when you go about it the way the OP did.

No vintage MoPars hurt in the start of the fabrication of these framerail splices lol. Now I gotta figure out how I want to brace up the framerails on each side to cut out this butchered old ****.

Now this has me wondering, my Demon is a 71,but has all the holes for a duel snorkel, it's a late build 71 and I've found other strange changes on it like the spoiler cutouts in a ribbed trunk lid, is it possible some 71's had the holes on late builds? I'm sure my hood is original to the car.

Without rust free donors cars this Fast back cuda or this Demon 340 would have been sent to the crusher. Or how about the 72 slant six Duster . I would have never clipped that car but it was not my call.. These guys bring there cars and the donors they have and want them fixed. I get what's left. I have several other jobs lined up for my son. Where would I get the parts to fix the more desirable cars.

This dart was on face book market place in Centeport Pa. I went to look at this car for a friend. He backed out. I needed a hood and I saw the other parts I needed. So I made the seller a fair offer. He was asking $2900 when I got there. I offered him $2000 after he came down to $2500 as stated . There were other members from this site with me. "69383valiant" drove it on the trailer and the guys tied it down while I was in the house getting the title.

Now some of you are even doubting that I even bought it. What do you think I stole it. Wishing my garage to ashes is only done by an *** hole and those that liked his post are no better. You don't have to like me but never ask me for a part. Your names are listed with the likes. Here are pictures of the car from the ad at the farm where Dave , Todd and I bought it. 2 months the car was for sale and many wanted it but no one came with cash . One guy threw $750 dollars in front of him. One of them was a For a-bodies only member . But I'm the bad person. On the way back with this Dart I said to Dave and Todd . I wonder what the members would say If I posted this. They laughed and we we're trying to think of who said what when we stripped Dave's parts car.

I have parted many 4 doors for a good cause myself, several 70 coronets, darts and belvederes, I have a friend who owns a 70 super bird with a modified 70 coronet rust free hood I sold him from a parted coronet. All the parts went on performance cars needing good donor parts. Back in the late 80's and early 90's me and a friend had so many cars we bought and put on his farm Ted Stevens even came up and visited looking to buy. My friend likes to stay anonymous but still has several parts . I never thought I'd see the day when 4 doors would be sought after, sad to say but I'm guilty of sending many to the grave, but for a good cause. My brother and a friend from Wisconsin bought all the 69 super bees and most of them were sold up north, me and my wife's cousin sold all the 68,69 and 70 charger cars. My friend still has a awesome GTX collection 68,69 and 70 all the other 71 and 72 GTX cars were sold to a guy in Somerset Ky. The 71 and 72 chargers went to New Mexico and the 70 to 74 E bodies went to a friend in Liberty Ky. The 4 door donor cars were sold for scrap metal, what little was left.

This is for the OP:
I understand your position but the manner that you took was all wrong.
Posting about a car you just got.....Then having the balls to tell of how you are going to chop it up? WTF, man ??
You would have been much better off either NOT posting about this at all or not showing any pictures of it.

I agree Kern Dog. There is such a thing as tact. Some have it, some dont. I am sure I am guilty of not having tact sometimes. I honestly think the original post on this thread was more to poke people than anything else. I got a lot of likes and agrees with my first post on this thread. I guess that must mean I must have hit the mark square in the middle. Post #69 proves just that. Posting this on here was just to get a rise out of people.

You have the right to your opinion but you have to understand that many local members come here. Some of them like to see new inventory before it hits the parts car section or scrap yard. Friends always get things they want. I only keep what I may need. I Bought a 440 not long ago Cheap. I gave away most of the accessories to friends for free. Members on this site. Valve covers , Dist., carb, Intake , Air cleaner, Alternator, All I kept was the block, pistons , rods , and rockers. They would have never known to come here without the thread of that buy. If members see new arrivals they can stop in when ever they want. My Phone number is all over , Most know it.

Post #69 states the truth. We were all correct. Instead of just looking at the pictures and reading and inquiring if interested. Or being happy that these parts will be save for muscle cars that deserve them. Like you there always has to be someone who comments on what they think they know. I post everything good and bad. I don't care what members like you think. Why do you think I don't answer your PM's for parts. I never comment on some of your posts where I believe you are looking for admiration of what you believe you know. If you don't like what you see or read troll on.

I dont look for admiration, but sometimes I think you do. I post stuff simply to show how things can be made instead of bought. I hope through my pix I can provide some sort of help to people who may need to fix or fabricate something they need. Give them ideas to help themselves.

As far as the PMs for parts, after the barracuda incident, and me needing and willing to purchase those inner roof support pieces you would probably never have sold anyways, since nobody asks for those pieces, however I needed them for a butchered car, I have not bothered you for any other parts since then. I have a very good sense of awareness that your not going to respond anyways. Like I said, I will just make what I need. I don't have any other choice.
