Hi guys, I have a set of Scat I beams that I am not sure about. They went through a blow up a couple years ago. Split a cylinder, broke a piston, bent some valves. I have new bolts but as I inch closer to having my assembly balanced I am second guessing using them. My machinist should be able to look them over and give me a yay or nay right? Thanks

you have to feel good about your assembly. Obviously, you don't feel good about the rods. Replace them. Other than that, you'll be thinking and feeling uncertain about your build every time you romp on it.

Yep. You are right. Originally I thought I'd replace the bolts and be good. Its possible they would be just fine but the 350 bucks or whatever they cost is pretty cheap piece of mind. I'm good for overthinking and getting worked up over things like this though lol

Only if X-Raying and magna fluxing don’t show anything, but still wouldn’t do it. That engine was screaming when it let go, it’s un telling how that affected the chinknesium metallurgy. I know my machinist would advise for them to be thrown in the scrap heap.

If the rods have been through "all that" then they need reconditioning at best. Weigh that cost against new rods. You will come out ahead with new rods.

It was just the one cylinder but I'll get new. I wont sleep at night if I don't. Save these for a street motor or extreme budget deal or somethin.
