SS Springs on 75 Duster

Two step is mostly wired in...want to talk to a friend who uses the two step instead of a transbrake on his staging .....

Working on motorhome....finally got the oil changed on it....bought some ramps and drove it up on them....piece of cake...and the 460 ford takes the same oil filter as a mopar....
wanted to drain radiator...cannot find a valve.....so i took off the bottom hose....bang drained...
now the air cleaner....what a giant PIA....wow...google it...and everyone called it a PIa...no shortcuts...finally get it out...and it looks pretty good...a new one is going in....LOL..
might take a shot and servicing the transmission.....maybe..trying to figure out what ford transmission is in the thing....it is a 4 sp od.....97 Soundwind 32v 460 ford...lol

need to get this wrapped up tomorrow and back to race cars....

I just sold my 2000 motorhome with the Triton ten and the 4-speed automatic. When I got it I did a full transmission service and I probably wouldn't have changed the filter and did the pan if I would have known how massive the oil filter was lol.. but anyways it was pretty easy to drain and also the torque converter has a plug on it to drain it as well so you get pretty thorough change..
.. I'm sure the transmissions didn't change much..

Motorhome all buttoned up and ready to roll for Saturday....will change the gender neutral fluid later this summer.

We have 3 bracket races this weekend...two on saturday and one on sunday plus the friday tnt....

This Duster is going out Friday for the TnT....see what all the changes do for the car....I dont have the side bar in it....last Sept in 100 degree weather ...it went 11.73....we got 60 degree weather and about 170 lbs lighter including the light weight disc brakes...unsprung weight...plus certain less rolling resistance...

DA was over 5000 ft back then....forecast to be around 2500 ft tomorrow...so maybe 2 tenths there....and up grades good for 2 tenths......so 11.40s?

I was only going to run one of the two races on Saturday and one on Sunday.....After the Saturday day race I am going to change the intake manifold from the current eddy Air Gap to a Holley Strip Dominator....should be a good back to back test as sunday is suppose have the same weather as saturday......

What a beautiful night ....weather wise....

1st pass down the track aint bad....11.48 @ 114.xx....engine cuts out twice in high gear....back to the pits,,,forgot to lower tire pressure....but ok

check everything...plug wires...distributor cap and rotor...decide to remove air cleaner....I dont get up on the converter as much and it bogs....but no cut out....11.79 at 114.xx....60 ft way off.

play with the squirters and pump to make sure there is no slack in them..

heading back to the staging lanes...car dies ....fuel pump is silence....ok..is it the pump...fuze or relay...start wiggly wires around in the trunk...it comes on ..then dies....it is not the pump...get bowl filled...start up and drive back to my pick up....I have nothing with me except basic wrenches and sockets....check the time...ok...drive to garage and get new relay...plug in and going to bypass circuit breaker...get everything done....pump working...fire car and head to the lanes.....watch 1st round of quick 16 run....walk back to lanes get in car...fire up ...drive next to tower.....go to move up....battery is dead...WTF.....alternator shows it charging all night......pull battery and head for home...put it on the charger tonight....

after the second pass....i stop at the scales....and it is not turned on...no problem...open door...plug in .....back off scale back on....car with me weights 2990 (2760 car weight) lighter then what i though....plus at the time of the 1st pass the DA was 2700.....

I think I got everything I need to do that intake swap tomorrow....will do as long as the car runs without any problems ....

Ran Saturday morning....11.54 and a 11.48.....1st round .011 light and a 11.49 on a 11.47 dial...on to round two...
my foot braking is rusty.....and I rolled the lights...big red...

now to change intakes....going great then my youngest daughter points to something on the camshaft....****..i got a lobe going flat....put it back together...done for the weekend...

We ended up stealing the radiator and pump/fan for the 71 duster....I got a start on pulling the camshaft out...lol
More to come.....not giving up on this thing yet.

EDM lifters have a oil hole on the bottom with pressurized oil to the cam....flat tappet

Found them at a great price at KMJ performance......alot cheaper then Summit

I just adjusted the valves last weekend before the car went on the trailer...maybe I screwed up ...lol.....

I thought this should have run a little faster....but now I know why....going to use a cam I have on hand....old MP solid lifter......, P4529973.....old oval cam...571 lift....264 @ .050...106 LSA .little bigger on the duration but it is sitting in the box for years...

304 @ .015"
296 @ .020"
264 @ .050"
170 @ .200"
.382" lobe lift

I told the tech guy friday night it might go under the 11.49.....and i had no side bars in it yet....he just rolled his eyes....

looks like I need to weld in the side bars....

I need to put a couple more hood pins in that hood.....looked like a sail on the top end....i could see the air cleaner from inside the car...

So much for a A/B swap:(

Well....we got the holley SD on it...but only drove it on to trailer...sorry...

but now it, with a different cam.....or am i getting your cars mixed up?

how could you get my cars mixed up....lol....

I was looking for that MP 571 cam today...found a couple of other cams i did not know I had....glad i did cause i found a set of howard edm lifters that were marked for another camshaft....engine never ran....just was mocked up...lol......

anyway was not going to do anything except park trailers and move motorhome into it parking place.....but got this duster in the garage.....

Got the rocker arms ...pushrods...and intake manifold off...plus the water pump....on my way to getting the camshaft out...trying to get this done this week.....
Cause the Machine shop called and said the block was done for the 408 for the 71 Dart...So i need to that motor together in the next couple of weeks...

Let’s keep some cars alive! MATS right around the corner!

this one should be back together in another day or two...got old cam out...new cam in....

need to degree it tomorrow and then assemble....waiting on EDM lifters..... most of the stuff is cleaned up and ready to got back together....

Dont have any info on this cam except what i posted above...so going to installed it 2 degrees advanced....

we got spare parts....and a spare car....lol

degree in camshaft.....1st problem my large 18 inch wheel does not work went the engine is in the car...it hits the K member...so we had to down size to the old 10 inch wheel.....so I was shooting for a 104....and got a 105 with this small wheel...close enough for a retired govt worker...
intake opening 27 degrees at .050 and 237 degree at closing at .050 give me 264 degrees of duration....and lift at cam was .381 for the .571 with 1.5 rockers.....so the cam is what it says it is..

lifter out for deliver to day with Fed ex....start buttoning the front end up and get the head back on...
