Spare Tire size.

Have been looking around and still is undecided as to what to use. It looks like 25" tall tires would work.

Question: what size of tire fits in the trunk spare tire hole? It will never be used, just want to fill the hole, and have support for the partial board. Clean it up to fit the car.
 
Coker sells a Firestone F560 155R14 tire that on a 14x4.5 steel wheel fits flush in the hole. (I have an extra SBP 14X4.5 OEM wheel free just pay shipping)

And the 14x4.5 OEM wheel fits KH front disk brakes

My cuda has an E70 x 14 on a 14x5.5 rim which is what it came with.
 
I recently asked this same question in a thread I started, but I don't recall the answer.
I have a 205/70R14 sitting in mine on a Cragar, but no board.

Edit, got one reply:
You can use a 195/7514 tire for a spare on the 5.5" wheel. But it won't quite fit in the well, depth-wise.

I'm right now going through the same thing. I want my tire board to sit flush on the trunk floor. I have my orginal steel 14" wheel. I was thinking about buying a 165x65x14 tire for my spare and mount it on my steelie wheel. Opinions???

I spent a lot of time on this & then figured out the spare tire needed to be the same height as my rear tires to work with my sure grip. I gave up on the flat spare tire board after that.

I think the spare tire well was designed for a 6.50-13 that was on many darts & valiants back in the day.
 
Somewhere on here someone suggested a donut spare from a Lincoln or the like. Kinda liked that idea.
 
I bought a donut spare at pick& pull that looked promising with a tape measure. Think it was off a compact dodge. It was metric and would go on, but the pattern wasn’t close enough to work when I put the lug nuts on. Tossed it. At least I only wasted $5.
 
Firestone F-560 155/80/14 on a 4.5” wheel. It sits perfectly flush. Just like factory. Available at Coker Tire.

Are all a-body spare tire wells the same depth?

I don't have the board but my spare seems low enough, just the Cragar centercap sticks up. This is from memory though.
 
That is a 20.4 diameter tire. Very short, but looks like it would fit in the spare well nicely.

A 235 60 r 15, as an example, is 26 inches tall. No way to use that spare with sure grip for a much larger diameter.

Not looking to use this as a spare, just to fill the hole and have a more solid trunk floor. So the 14" SBP will work fine.
 
Not sure who is looking to do what here.
To fill the hole, I'd just make a block out of styrofoam or a frame out of wood.

Looking for a useable mini spare, then I agree with the above response.

Find one with diameter close to the other tires, that meets the rim mounting range, and has a max load in the same ballpark or better than the originals for your car.
