NASCAR chose to implement rules to make the race more about the driver and team than the car.
If all the cars are close to being equal, then the fans go to cheering for the driver and team rather than the machine. Machines don’t give the advantage anymore, driver and team skills do.
Right or wrong...like it or not...it’s how it is now.
