What parts would it take to put 68 10" drums and backing plates on a 65 Valiant. Will the 65 Valiant spindles accept the 68 backing plates and drums?
Thanks for any help.

I don't know, start with wheel bearings. You should be able to look up the wheel bearing inner/ outer part no's and then find someplace that shows size listings. I know I found a Timken cat. online not long ago.

We should assume your 65 has the 9X3 drum brakes? If so, those spindles are different from spindles for 10x2 drum brakes. Aftermarket vendors like Scarebird, etc,, offer disc brake conversion kits for both spindle types but if my memory serves, none will fit inside 13 inch wheels.

It’ll take the spindles from the ‘68. 10” brakes will not work on 9” spindles. Backing plates and how they mount to the spindles is different.

Do you have the spindles? Best to replace spindles and all, they are a bolt on and also a stronger unit.

I do not have the 10" spindles. Another member was interested in my 68 brake parts for his 65 . We just wanted to find out what it would take. Didn't want to sell him parts if they wouldn't fit.

Break-up grade???

My ex said that I was bad at breaking-up and gave me an "F"...
