Bob I wonder why you couldn't use the 727 plate with the 904 transmission. I am using a 904 transmission with a 8 inch coan converter and have it bolted to the factory 360 magnum flex plate. I had to file out one bolt hole like you normally do. My 8 inch uses the 7/16 torque converter bolts. I have had my dakota running and didn't have in funny noises cranking the engine over etc. My friend had to cut the stock magnum flex plate when he had it, to clear his 727 torque converter. If you would send me a template for the 727. I am willing to try and see if it would work with my 904
