Jingle F***ing Bells...

Fixed noise!

Got new noise!

I think it has to be something with the exhaust hanger near the drivers side muffler or maybe my shoes are adjusted just a tad to much

Put the rear on jackstands and let it idle in drive. See if you can isolate it that way.

Hate to say it, but the frequency makes it seem like the driveshaft to me. Is anything near it or touching it?

Your new rear end, do you know if it has taper or roller bearings? If they're taper, did you pack them with grease? Does the noise go away when you drag the brakes? If also check the dust cover on the Bellhousing. Maybe it's hitting the converter? Or is just loose and rattling?

So many different possibilities.

Dont think anything is shutting the DS,not that I see at least. It seemed to get better when I tightened everything more.

The axles have green bearings. I used Castrol 80w-90 with limited slip modifier, but no extra modifier. I packed the axle seals with grease before installing.

Yes it goes away when I press on the brakes, dont know if that's speed or brakes related though. I'll put it on jack stands tomorrow. dust cover/bell housing may be a good idea to check.

Damn gremlins! Just think in 10yrs maybe I'll be done chasing gremlins and the car will sound/work properly

If the noise isn't there with the rear in the air, it may be in the front brakes.

I used a cheap aftermarket kit (super cheap) and had some squeaks and rattles. So, don't rule out the front..

Sure is, it brings back fond memories to me, all 3 of my boys spent time in the walker watching dad work on the car.
Fun time over the years.
They are precious at that age.

I definitely agree, about 4 is when they start to be little turds! I truly do enjoy getting to do things with them as often as I do and I am glad they love the purple car as much as they do.

That's got to be rotation related...
Cotter pin under a wheel Center cap.
Brake dust covers
Flexplate bolts
Dust cover
Inspection tag on u joint
U joint

As stated above. Jack stands would be my next move. Then at least you know front, rear, drivetrain...

I got everything put back together and I got a nice louder jingle... I checked the front suspension and everything appears to be tight. Does this sound like anything maybe youve heard before?

To me it sounds like a nut/bolt or something metal is loose and bouncing around, but is it the rear end that is pinging? Is this what it sounds like? First video is shorter but sounds better, it happens at about 25mph until I start to slow down. I'll probably jack it up tomorrow and again double check to make sure all the nuts/bolts are tight.

Sounds exactly like something laying in the brake drum to me.
Those shoe springs do break sometimes, and actually I have one here that did.
Took the drum off and the curved tip off the spring was laying in the bottom of the drum.
Sounded just like that.
(Ditto on the jack stands)

This part of the brake drum looks like it’s rubbing the backing plate to me. Looks like part of the lip is painted and the other part is polished.

I adjusted the rear brakes and tapped in those little tabs on the shoes. Still makes the noise.

I'm thinking it is the rear brakes rubbing on something. I'm going to change out the exhaust hanger just in case though.

I also may switch out my calipers to the larger piston ones.
Ps my windshield wipers suck!

If its still there, if you have a rubber mallet, start bumping on things like leaf springs,u-bolts shocks and drive shaft. Oh,and exhaust.

when i do a service on cars i will give things a bump here and there just to see if anything is loose/rattling.

I adjusted the rear shoes a little, then I tapped in those metal tabs on the shoes. It still made the noise a little when I took it out for a drive it got better the more I drove it. I think I will adjust them a little more still.

I'm also going to swap on my other calipers, the ones with larger pistons. We will see how that goes. Then I'll swap out my rear exhaust hanger and grease all my new suspension bushings and joints.

Ps my wipers suck lol

I thought I got rid of my exhaust leak but it sounds like it is still there boo

Sounds better. Exhaust leaks, i hate em too.

Next trip to vegas i want to see your car in person..
Wet streets make me paranoid, especially in a place that gets very little rain. Streets get slick, and let’s face it-tires in dry country dont always have a lot of tread.

Oh yea my wife gave me a stern talking to because on the way home I gave it a little gas around a corner and got the *** end a little sideways :steering::lol:

Yea my bfgs had horrible grip, these tires are brand new, not even 10 miles on them yet and grip 100x better than the old bfgs

On my trips south i cant help but observe cars and the sounds and the tires. Even here, in the city.So many low, almost flat baldass tires.
Bad u-joints worn out brakes abd whatever.
When i worked in town, the shop faced the street, chevy blazer drove by every day, for a month i had to listen to grinding brakes. “Who does that?”

I do that too.
My neighbor pulled in one day with a car he just bought from across the street asked "How do you like my new ride?"
I said "Not bad for a six cylinder".
He said "No, it's a V8" and I said "Not right now it isn't".
Luckily it was just two plug wires crossed but he had no idea it wasn't running right.

We have a loud ricer down the block that I swear takes 5 seconds to shift from one gear to the next.
Slowly slides into the next gear with a big gap in between and drives me crazy.:D

I recently put a sure grip in with 3.55 gears and new wheels with soft compound 9.5 inch wide Nitto Neo Gen tires and I was amazed how much grip they have in the rain.

Oh, and a little sideways is where these cars belong.:steering:
That's where the fun is.

I liked the nittos but I couldn't fit a 275 wide in the rear, heck the 245 is cutting it close

Replaced the calipers with the larger piston calipers. The black/silver not as nice as the gold but they are larger pistons so theoretically they should stop better as long as they are bled properly. On the passenger side I replaced my caliper mounting bracket with one of my extra ones that had the stock sized bolt hole, then I added all new hardware on the passenger side.

I also found the bolt that was holding my shock/sway bar could be tightened to the lca more so I tightened it up. I also say that the little tab that keeps the brake line to the hose was off center causing it to not be 100% tight with the mount.

Gravity bled the drivers side since I changed that side first and the passenger side is bleeding right now.

I also tightened my drivers side exhaust where it meets up to the header collector.

I also checked out my steering coupler. The little boot/metal piece that holds the boot to the metal portion of the coupler isnt attached and it's a pain in the *** to attach.

We'll see if anything is different/better here in a bit. As I need to go get some more grease for my grease gun.

Edit--- my son came out and pumped the brakes as it was gravity bleeding... now they have to be fully rebled :BangHead::wtf: oh well not a huge deal.
