I have a 401K that I'm going to ask my tax guy about tomorrow. It's not very big and I don't like where it's invested. I'd rather have it liquid.
If my wife wasn't in the middle of the city budget I would ask her but I know when I can ask and when it's better not to. LOL She's a CPA

You always pay taxes on interest earned on a CD. It is taxed as “interest income”. The only way to reduce the taxes is if it is purchased through a tax-advantaged account like an IRA or 401k.
Penalties for cashing in early are levied by the issuer and generally mean losing most or all of the gained interest and may include additional penalties beyond that depending on the terms.

I got the new carriage light for the garage installed today. I like the look but they are a bit too bright at night. They are fixed element LCD so I can’t swap bulbs. I tested out some diffuser liner options for the enclosure and have a solution. It’s getting ready to rain so I will tackle that after the weather gets better.
While never changing a bulb sounds nice...Not a fan of most of those type fixtures. Always seem way too bright/white. Now if they are dimmable, that could work.
Buddy put an inheritance into investments. Investment company pretty much bled off 25% of it before he got wise.

I have replaced a lot of our bulbs with LED's and I always get the soft white ones. The daylight bulbs are more like CFL's. Not a fan of those.
It's tough to set some aside for retirement when you're self employed. I was lucky to have some accounts receivable, inventory, and a truck to sell when I retired.

The color on this one is good, just a bit too bright. I did some tests with different liner filters and can easily knock the brightness down to where I want it. Because they are LED, heat isn’t an issue.
That's a good deal. The cleaning gals stuck a plastic based duster into one of our chandeliers. With incandescent bulbs it gets damn hot in there. Well some of it melted. LOL. Boy were they embarrassed. I have led's to go in as soon as a few of the bulbs burn out.

That I don't know. He owned some auto parts stores before he retired.
My property has near doubled in value as well, so im basically living in my retirement fund.
Wife has a good retirement plan with the bank, we should be in good shape.

I actually park that close to give extra clearance on the end of the front walk. Makes it easier when walking the dog.

Mitch has a brokers license. That means he can manage investments and make trades for other people. Quite different than having a CPA license.
A CPA can keep the books for you...a Broker can work to make the money for you.
Well kind of. CPA's don't "keep books" that's what book keepers do. CPA's Prepare taxes, are financial advisors, perform audits, and oversee accounting practices. When my wife was a partner at the CPA firm she was the Penson and Trust partner. She knows as much about accounting, auditing, and employee benefits as you know about pharmaceuticals. And now she has 15+ years of Government Accounting back round. She is the CFO of our city and manages all aspects of a 150 million dollar budget. And yes, it balances to the penny. She has many awards for her work.

That’s what we call “the books”. It’s the logistics of accounting and business operation. Investments, trading and growing money are something different.
Not trying to diminish the importance of what she does or the skill and knowlege it requires, just trying to clarify the difference in the roles.
I agree, But,These fixtures have no bulb. Its on a board that is part of the fixture. And usually they are ‘daylight’
I like daylight in the shop but hate the dust from the yard. Had a roll of plastic left from a job last fall, grabbed iut on the way out, along with some paper clamps. Since I spent much of Sunday afternoon cleaning in preperation for the dash work, I want to keep the place as dust free as I can.
Landlord saw it on his camara and told me how much he liked the idea.
Its totally ghetto but it helps. I've done similar in other rentals, but in those cases it was to attempt to stay warmer.

These are more like a soft white, 3200k.
They are just just too bright at 1100 lumens. I’m going to filter it down to around 500-600.
