So I have a 74 duster with a 360 installed and I'm not sure which fan to use.

I have these two but the tips of the blades are different.

Which one is best for a 360 (non a/c) or should I go with a solid bolted on fan??

If you don’t use the MP unit Bobby posted, use the one on the left.
Do not use a fixed fan.

If they both fit your shroud, and you already own them both; I think I would use the smallest one that gets the job done.
If your 360 is stockish, I would try the one on the right.
If cammed and high-compression, or if towing;then the left; that sucker moves some air alrightie..

Check for cracks around the mounting points.

I'm guessing the cut tip is for balancing. The left one has one or maybe two different sized blades to accomplish the same thing, and I guess, to reduce roar; I've never really thought about it..

a fixed fan will cool better than a clutch type , I have , and am proving it right now !
I don’t believe it a bit. I’m proving it right now in reverse. The fixed fan also will have a hp penalty. A minor one but one non the less.

And they will roar ^^^^ like an airplane propeller. Ask me how I know, 74 Swinger factor air solid mount fan.

my solid fixed fan cant be heard at all , maybe cause the dual 3 1/2'' pipes on the 505 are a little loud ???????
And yes , it probly makes more heat than ur little 340----------

agree on the h.p. thing , but u are dead wrong on the cooling. I haven`t been able tell any diff on the h.p.thing at all tho.

I know I’m not dead wrong since I personally did the swap of fans and seen the changes.

That makes you dead wrong.

is that even available anymore? when i was looking no one had it. mancini has what they call a replacement for one.. Mancini Viscous Fan Package

Yeah, that ain't it. If it's not that whacky lookin five blade offset jobby, that's not the one. There is some good info about it in the Mopar engine book. how they found and proved it moved more air than any of the rest and drew less horse power, too. They are well worth the money. Jegs is showing them in stock......but you know how that goes. They actually came stock on lots of things in the late 70s through the 80s. Diplomats, Fifth Avenues, trucks and whatnot. Something about that staggered fan blade design that moves more air and varies the air flow as well as knocking off some of the noise. A lot of engineering went into that package and people just slap ignore it comin and goin. I tried to help @Mtrhead sell his in the for sale section. Posted a link to it more than once. Got ignored. So you know what? I bought that rascal myself. People always wanna cheap out or use a stupid BS electric fan that's mega cheap on sale and barely moves 1500 CFM, when it takes about 4000 CFM to cool the average hot rod motor. You just caint tell some people a deadgum thing. They flat out will not listen.

Oh yea, agreed! The “Wacky” 5 blades fan was also found on early Durango’s with the reverse rotation water pump.

A ways back I was talking with a guy about his Nova that ran low 11’s about his mechanical fan where he just jumped in and said the factory got this **** right, don’t screw with simple and effective in exchange for the electric fan set ups. Just a simple system that works well.
You need to have a known good radiator, viscous fan and shroud. Done for most applications.

I'm gonna have to look that up. That seems to defy the laws of physics - moves more air and uses less horsepower???

It's all in the design. The staggered blade design is the secret to the whole thAng. Much like staggered alternator fan blades. That does the same thing. Moves more air, with less force all while reducing noise.

It defies the physics and your heads logic until you know more.

agree , but always heard it was for noise only from the GM side of things--------------------??
And a fixed blade anything , will move more air than the same size and blade configuration as a thermal type . You get a 500'' engine in a little engine bay , it can creates enough under hood heat to melt plastic hood louvers , burn valve cover gaskets-etc..
A smaller street engine has more room for air flow /heat dispersion to start with.
The clutch fan I have on mine now seems to be marginal , it does cool better with a fixed fan , I tried it about every way it can be tried , only went to the clutch type because of everyone talking about them . Car reaches 212 quicker than it did w/ fixed . END OF DISCUSSION !

These notches were used with the bubble top radiators. The clutch length *might* be for a cast iron water pump.

Clean the them up with soap and water. part number is either ink stamped or die stamped depending on the year it was made.
Shop manual has all dimensional info for the fan that belongs on '74 360 and matching options.
The important thing will be diameter and blade size that will work with the radiator (and shroud if present).
