Hello,

I know this isnt dealing with the product range of this site, but there are a lot of knowledgeable people here that I am hoping can shed some light on this conversion kit we inherited. It is the complete kit that converts the Imperial fuel injection system over to carburetor.

So my dad recently received this kit that would change the 318(?) fuel injection over to carburetor. I believe this was for 1981-83. We have everything from the Air cleaner to the exhaust. We have no need for it, so I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about it? Or if anyone has a use for it? and ultimately what it is worth?

The kit is Located in Lancaster PA

Thanks for any help

Does it have a name, as in "on the box," or is this used parts someone picked up? Photo would be helpful, and then we can "guide you" there is probably a carb no and so on can ID the parts

It is in multiple boxes. This was out of a dealership that closed. The owner held onto the kit for all this time (no idea why). So I believe it is a factory replacement kit. What would you like a photo of? it is just a bunch of parts sitting in different boxes, but I can try and get some photos up. I honestly dont know if the parts are sitting in their original boxes either. I didnt see a carb when I unloaded the truck, but the air cleaner had the lean burn stickers all over it. we have wiring, the fuel take, intake, fuel lines, exhaust and some other plumbing stuff.

I'll tell you what I think this is for

I'm not aware of ANY dealer or factory efi - to carb changeover for late model stuff

"Way back" when, Chrysler Imperial had an early fuel injection that was was trouble from the start and THEY had conversion kits. This was somewhere around 57-59, Google Chrysler Bendix

If not photos, parts no's on the boxes. Surely there must be documentation that makes you think this? From what you are saying we can't know anything factual.

The FI they used in the 81-83 Imperials was full of issues. In the 83 FSM they had a whole section relating to troubleshooting the system. There was a factory supplied conversion kit that tthe dealers used to convert it over to a carb when they just couldn't fix it. Besides the underhood stuff, part of the kit was for the electronic dash for the gas flow sensors (read MPG) and odometer. I had an 81 Imperial that was converted and everything seemed to work good. . Why not check in over at the FMJ Body site listed with the rest of the FOR Forums at the top of the page - there are 81-83 Imperial owners who might have a better handle on what it's worth. Hope this helps a little.

I appreciate your help. I do believe this is the factory supplied conversion kit since it did come out of an old dodge dealership.

I did start a similar thread at FMJ but so far no responses. From my experience, Abodiesonly has a good following and people respond fairly quickly with good information.

I will call my dad later today to hopefully get some pictures that I can have up soon.

It was problematic from the get go and there was a reason they scrapped their EFI on the Imperials not to mention it does away with so much crap on the top engine.

Did you ever sell this? Or still available?

So your dad has an early 80 EFI kit?

Scrap metal.

Post a pic. Sounds to me like its simply probably a mooar electronic ignition system to slap a carb back on something that was factory efi.
Nothing guys havent been doing with 4 bbl carbs and ready to run distributors to eliminate the learn burn stuff. Sounds like that, plus a carb adapter.

The kit was a little more complicated than just an mopar ignition kit. It had everything from the carb, intake, wiring, fuel tank, exhaust, air cleaner, etc.

the kit has been sold
