Convince me to not use this carburetor.

Ok, will this bolt up to an Aussispeed 2 barrel intake without an adaptor, and what is the CFM rating?
lol.... idk. You'll have to click on the link and ask all that to the person selling. Your opening post said slant six 2bbl. I dont' know about the aussispeed and cfm's.

OK, let me further explain why I am choosing the Aussiespeed 2 barrel intake.
Since the Aussie intake has a Holley bolt pattern which would not require an adapter, because I hate adapters, I could currently remain within a budget which would allow further upgrades when I can tap into my 401K in four years.

Since the Aussie intake has a Holley bolt pattern, and injector bosses, I could convert the car to either a Holley Sniper 2 barrel, or install multi port fuel injection, at a later time. I would only have to remove the intake 4 years from now to get it machined for fuel injectors. Does this sound reasonable?

In your first post all you mention is the price of 2bbls for a slant six, so I think you are looking for the cheapest 2bbl for a slant six. I bought one cheaper than what the link you posted, so I posted my link to give you another option.
 
These do seem tempting, but a few concerns about quality. I'd hate to see my car go up in flames, if, let's say the float split (sank) and the fuel started overflowing out the top of the carb and onto the exhaust manifold. I guess you could install a reputable rebuild kit into these carbs.....if they are identical to their U.S. cousins. I'd also be concerned about any accelerator pump rubber as well.

Keep 'em in China.

Yes sir, you are right. I did not give the full details. But, I am very happy that you posted a great carburetor for a great price which may work for another member in this forum whom is trying to keep the budget without pissing off the wife.

it's been on my Dad's truck for about a year, and has worked good. Good luck with your search's. :)
 
Unless I'm buying from a carb shop I avoid buying used carbs. YOu ever see someone sell a good running carb? I haven't. Always something that didn't work for them.

I also like the 500cfm holley 2bbl personally and parts are easy too because the circle trackers run them.

I will call carbsonly.com tomorrow to see if they can do better than $400 on a Holley 500 CFM carburetor. I would want one with an electric choke.
 
Carbs only wants almost as much as Jegs or Summitt for a rebuilt one. The Holley website is around the same. Carbsonly said that 500 CFM is too high for the Slant 6.

That 500cfm is at 3"Hg depression, ....which is not a performance intake density, at 1.5" that is really only a 353cfm carb,...which is not too much for a 225,...especially if it is built.
 
Ok, so I am wondering why some 2 barrel carbs are so pricey. Here is one that I believe would work well with a slant 6.

You get what you pay for. That might work well, depending on it's size and jetting. My slant came with a autolite 2150 from a 3.8L Ford Granada. It worked pretty good, but my FiTech works better over a wider range. BTW, I have a /6 intake manifold that will bolt to that carb. It's not pretty, but it worked and didn't leak. Now it's in a box and I have no use for it. Yours if you pay shipping. I can send pictures.

GO to the Aussie site and read. I am sure it's right there what mounting pad bolt pattern it has.

maybe it is, but I ran a Carter 500 4bbl on my sl/6. but I had headers, 4spd, and 3:55 gears in my 65 dart. I liked it.

Is this a street car or race car? The 500 Holley is great on a race car. The 350 Holley is better for a street car. The Autolite 2100 is a great carb for the street. The Jeep guys love them, and there used to be conversion kits on eBay. Which included a rebuilt carb.

Also I wouldn't waste the money on the 2v Hurricane manifold. Go straight to the 4v version and run an adapter. You will be better off in the long run.

I believe I was reading your posts at slantsix.org. My car is used on the street and I am going to do change over to a 2 barrel, with either Dutra Duals or Clifford Shortys.
 
I think that autolite 2100 is very underrated. And they are dirt cheap. I’ve got cores for $40 and the FABO member rebuild price is $144.
