I have an older Magnum cam by competition cam,,Recommended Competition Cams Component parts( Check Competition Catalog #106A for correct application) , This is whats marked on the box and is suppose to be chrysler sb cam,,On the end of cam is stamped U2225 ,,Does anyone know the application for this cam and if its a good for a street build ? I have had it for years put up when I got it from ebay but never knew much about it

I’m not searching part number for mystery cams and the supposed correct parts to go with them since those correct parts will fit a verity or cams across many manufactures.

Best bet is to call Comp Cams with the info on the cams end.

I really like the first rpm range,
2000 to 9000 !
Good for STREET to NASCAR..

Thanks for the replies , I sent comp cam an email as there closed today and hopefully they will verify ,, I couldn't find it on there website , even thou cam is new ,,it is old stock

If this cam is what you have it's pretty serious 340 camshaft, I would say at least 391 or 411 gears I think it would lend itself better to a four speed car or like it said at least 3000 stall speed converter with an automatic. It will also work better with smaller combustion Chambers and or higher compression. But used with the right parts could be a real screamer it will definitely be soft under 3000 RPMs

It will be in a 4 speed for sure ,

None of the numbers posted by the OP are going to work for Internet searching.

A SB Mopar cam from Comp will have a part number that starts with a “20-“, then a 3 digit number, a -, and then another single number.

For example a 280H Magnum cam is a
20-232-4

If what you have is a shelf cam, the number should be on the cam and the box.

Your probably right , the cam is stamped on rear of it U2225 ,,and box shows only Check Competition Catalog #106A ,,box is falling apart , its been on my shelf for over 10 years ,, it came off ebay so I am relying on what seller said , I hope comp cams can answer what its application is

I hope you get a good answer, but I’ve never seen any Comp cam that didn’t have either a part number of grind number on it.
It sounds like yours has neither.

I sent them picture of stamp letters on cam as picture did reveal more than my old eyes could see,,part # on end of box is missing

I see a Crower cam. The Crower name just isn't stamped very well. The U probably stands for the Ultra Beast line.

You may be right ,,it doesn't look very used but the ebay seller obviously mis lead it as a comp cam ,

I am right. If you can measure the lift, we might be able to zoom in on what it is. Although on their site, there's only one Ultra Beast cam. That probably wasn't the case many years ago when that part number was good.

I might get the mic. out later and do some measurements , but with the deception of it being a comp cam an its not , I will have to check it closely , I had bought it for a build years ago that never got done an it sat in a box ,,wished I had looked sooner , but it wasn't a lot of money but I hate liars ,,his address is still on the box

Many years ago I used Crower cams with some regularity.

Often times if they didn’t have what I wanted on the shelf(which for mopars was pretty much always), the cam would show up like that one, with only a serial number on it.
No part numbers, no grind numbers...... just the serial number.

Call Crower, they might be able to tell you what it is based on that number.

If they can’t, and you’re handy with a degree wheel..... when you have a short block to put it in...... 10mins of taking some measurements....... and you’d know exactly what it was.

If someone local has a “cam doctor”, that’s another option.

If none of those three options works for you....... put it back on the shelf and order up exactly what you want for the build.

I do plan on contacting Crower about cam , I also plan on getting someone better qualified than myself to check it closer for wear as it was boxed in a comp. cam box and sold as such , so before I do a build with it , its going to be checked better
