Does anyone know the engine specs for the 1969 Dart Swinger 340 ran in F/Stock at the 1969 NHRAWinter-nationals that ran like 12.70s at 108. Think it would be fun to build an identical motor. But am looking for engine specs thank you.

find a 69 nhra rulebook
trw 10.5:1 pistons today I'd run light pistons
I'd ask jim @ racer brown about the cam and run a modern cam
springs may look the same but you can get better springs
check out FAST rules/ groups
stick or auto??
avs carb so square bore manifold check and see if larger secondaries we used to swap on 440 carbs
x heads
you can find all the matching numbers if you want to go there
manifolds for your chassis
a body drivers side is the most different
good project

It sounds like you are referring to the CC Swinger. Keith Black prepped the motor, but can't help you with the details.

another good source would be the Mopar Engine manual, lists the spec's.like deck height +.045 head cc 63cc i think, and so on bacislly blueprint the engine, and as stated above contact racer brown for the cam.

There was a old guy on here that has passed away that used to post a lot of drag specs. I am trying to find his posts.

69 Cuda 440 was the guy. I found his posts but didn't find any 340 info.

So this was ran with a 460 lift cam?
I'm going to guess that's today's rules and in '69 the lift at the valve may have been limited to 444/453.

For some reason its tricky to search for content in his posts. Maybe because his screen name is now converted to a Legendary member???

That could be. That's how I found him. It seems like some of the threads are gone.

I don't know if this is any better than what you did Mike.

Put F/Stock into search,
Cut and paste 69 Cuda 440 into member
Unchecked this forum only.

Turns up a few that look promising. Here's a couple:
1969 Match Race ~ 'Cuda 383 vs. 'Cuda 340

June 1968 ~NHRA Stock Class National Records

quote from post 4
January 1969 > NHRA National Records

E/S ......... 12.39 @ 113.63 MPH
E/SA ....... 12.49 @ 112.50 MPH

F/S ......... 12.70 @ 107.65 MPH
F/SA ....... 12.79 @ 109.75 MPH ..... 1968 Barracuda 340-S 'Fastback'

The Barracuda 340 Automatic {Fastback's} were nearly unbeatable.

The top Barracuda 340 'F/SA' Stockers were running 12.80's @ 108 MPH.

Note; No 1969 '383' A-Body was running anywhere near their Class Records
{E/S or E/SA} in Stock Class.

Yep, same as I got 13 pages
Some info about the cars. Would take some digging to see if anything about the cams specs or rules regarding cam lift.

edit: I only get 5 pages.

are you sure of the time in 69 stock elm cars were allowed headers and any rear end ratio that fit in stock fender wells and rear end housing and was it a 340 car why I ask in 1973 I won E/pure stock at the winter Nat'l with my 71 340 demon best time was 12.53 at 110.05 car had no headers and 4:10 rear end when NHRA allowed headers and lower gears we added headers and 4:88 gears with 10" tires it's best time was 11.88 at 112.56 mph

Not sure about F/Stock classification.
Back in the early 70s I ran G/Pure Stock at OCIR with my '69 340 Swinger.

cam rules were that they must meet lift and duration of factory stock cam that was all they checked so the ramp was not checked that what we changes and they were called cheater cams value springs did not live very long but the cheater cam did help the car to go better at the track

I was just looking at one of Paul's threads about Pure Stock. Definately less allowances than Stock. Of course they both changed over the years.

Here's one mention the '72 rules
Match Race 1972 ~ 'Duster 340 vs 'GTO 400'

and apparently a lot of tracks didn't run the PS classes in 70 and 71.
The 'Quickest' A-Body Small Blocks
You guys know about this than I do.
It's pretty interesting to see what can be done within a set of rules.
And how much difference when the rules are changed.

Big difference between what was legal then vs. now. Then, stock meant stock. Trim, interior, etc. Engine had to be the right castings, cam specs, valve springs, carb, intake, and I don't think anyone was doing acid porting. Or spinning them 8000 RPM. Wasn't all engine. Plenty of work done to the car as well.

Another 340 F/Stock car mentioned by Paul - with photo. So maybe another one that the OP can look for prep info about.
This photo is from 1969, when the Coletti's 68' Barracuda 340 'Formula S' was classed in F/SA.

The cam is a **** to deal with if you plan to drive it anywhere. My be a neat talking point, reality of use is a different story.

my friend around the corner from me F/SA 68 Barracuda has gone 10.82 at the 2019 Winternationals....new rules alot different from old rules...but they still take money to make them run...
